Coach Dan Moore Comments on the Season
“I would say that We’ve gotten off to a nice start, but our last game against Cavalier was as close as we’ve come to a complete game this year. We have a whole lot of things to improve on and get better at, but there’s a lot of season to go for us to work on some things.“
“As the season goes along and Kyler gets stronger and more confident/comfortable, that will help us out a lot. Experienced depth will make a world of difference.“

Top Eagles
Kyler Moore Kyler Moore 6'1" | SG North Border | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-1 SG|
2.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 1 apg. He is coming off a football injury. Expect Kyler’s minutes per game to increase and his production to continue to rise as the year goes on. Moore is a very important piece of the puzzle for the Eagles. I really liked his great body language and how he is always helping teammates up off the floor and congratulating them on a job well done. Moore looks to be a tough and smart defender. He picks off passes on defense by being in the correct spot at the opportune time. Kyler is a crafty passer that finds a way to get the rock in the open teammate’s hands. He runs the floor hard, despite the fact that he is recovering from an injury. Moore is a hustler that boxes out well and closes out without a flaw.
Jaxen Johnson Jaxen Johnson 6'5" | PF North Border | 2022 State ND (2022) |6-5 PF|
11.8 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 2.8 apg. He is a very nice athlete that can start the fast break on his own. Johnson looked good dribbling in the open court. I was very impressed with Jaxen’s passing. He showed a precision 3/4 court pass to a sprinting teammate. It is easy to see why Jaxen was a standout QB this fall. He also showed nice touch passes where he had to thread the needle. He really excels at grabbing defensive rebounds and looking down the court for a deep outlet. Johnson showed off his versatility when attacking the basket with a nice spin-move and when shooting the ball. Jaxen can hit jump shots from 15 feet and he can hit catch-n-shoot three-pointers. When he has the ball around the hoop, Jaxen is a versatile finisher and he has a quick/explosive drop-step. On defense, Johnson is a player that will block and contest shots.
Logan Peterson Logan Peterson 5'9" | SG North Border | 2022 State ND (2022) |5-9 G|
3.3 ppg, 1.8 rpg, .8 apg. He is a very solid role player. Peterson does not try to do too much. Logan moves the ball well on offense. He is a hustler that dives on the floor for loose balls. He plays quality minutes for the Eagles and Peterson is a key cog in the success that North Border is having this season.
TJ Cosley TJ Cosley 6'0" | PG North Border | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-0 G|
24.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.3 apg. On defense, TJ has quick hands that lead to deflections and TO’s. On offense, Cosley is a slasher, penetrator, and gifted finisher. He shines at finishing off-balance with superb body control. TJ can finish with finesse or with strength. He has no problem using his left or right hand. This star junior guard is very fast up and down the court. He is so fast in transition, TJ is constantly putting pressure on the defense. I love how he catches, rips, and attacks the defense in the blink of an eye. After he shoots, Cosley will follow his shot for another scoring opportunity. His ball skills impressed me, I watched him throw many accurate 1-handed passes. TJ is an exciting player and a constant playmaker.
Ayden Stainbrook Ayden Stainbrook 6'5" | SF North Border | 2023 State ND (2023) |6-4 F|
24.8 ppg, 11 rpg, 1.5 apg. This long athlete can do it all. On defense, I have watched Ayden swat and block many shots. He is always challenging shots. When finishing at the basket, Stainbrook is a gifted finisher with both hands. His left is as good as his right. When posting up, Ayden showed a perfect turn-around lefty baby hook. The junior showed good feet, a fake shot, and an exceptional step-through move. Stainbrook is also an unselfish player. When he had the ball on the block, Ayden kicked the ball out to open shooters for wide-open 3’s. He is also a great catch-n-shoot scorer. Ayden spaces the floor and shoots it with quick feet, seamless mechanics, and great confidence. He also has deep extended shooting range. Ayden stood out when finishing in transition with his athleticism. Ayden is a scary play, to say the least.
Grant Cosley Grant Cosley 6'0" | SG North Border | 2025 State ND (2025) |5-8 G|
4.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 3 apg. He is a mature, strong, and very skilled player for his young age. I like the pace that Grant plays with and he handles the ball well. He impressed me with his 1-handed lefty passes. The young Cosley is unselfish and he looks to set up his older teammates. He still scores with his great shooting form. Grant can also attack and score at the rim. When he is not bringing the ball up the court, Grant sprints the floor hard. Cosley has good instincts on O & D, and his anticipation skills lead to turnovers on defense. I liked his smooth pull-up jumper in transition. It was a smart decision to get a good look before he got into the congestion in front of the rim. Grant also impressed me when an Eagle post player had the ball. Cosley spaced the floor and found a passing lane to spot up for an open 3-ball. He has proven that he belongs on varsity and he is full of potential.
