New Year resolutions are a long standing tradition and a good way to self reflect on some improvements and changes that individuals may want to make. That includes me and my work. I always have to strive to be better. I’m making a resolution in 2022 to see the 5 post players. This could mean seeing them either more or for the first time.
Sam Hoskin Jr. (2022, PF, Detroit Renaissance)
I really like what I’ve seen and heard from Hoskin Jr. so far this season. He’s making a plus defender that’s fitting nicely on the floor with young stars Lance Stone and Jayden Savoury. Hoskin Jr. is a hustle player that will storm back on D and make it tough for the opposing team to get the ball out on the break. He’s a natural shot blocker that walls up nicely in the paint.
Marcus Ransom Marcus Ransom 6'6" | PF Battle Creek Lakeview | 2023 State MI (2023, PF, Battle Creek Lakeview)
Ransom has some very real upside as a player and prospect. He can catch a pass in transition, put the ball on the floor, and finish at the rim. Ransom is a very strong athlete wih a ton of leg strength. He has a good feel for when a shot is going up and times the block well with his right hand. I really hope to see Ransom at some Flight Hankamp Open Runs this year and at the Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250.
Layne Risdon Layne Risdon 6'9" | C Zeeland East | 2024 State MI (2024, C, Zeeland East)
There’s a lo to like about Risdon and his future as a basketball player. He’s a lean and long player and you can tell that he’s well schooled on how to use that length on the defensive end. Risdon has surprisingly soft feet and solid footwork in the paint, especially on D. There is a ton of upside on the table for this young man.
Peyton Rummler Peyton Rummler 6'7" | PF Stoney Creek | 2023 State MI (2023, PF, Stoney Creek)
Rummler adds some versatility to this list, as you could easily consider him a 3. He has a nice mid range game and can go at the rim shrugging off contact when he puts the ball up. Rummler is a grinder that has a passion for, and dedication to, being the best player he can be. He’s battled back from injury and reinserted himself as a college basketball talent.
Xander Wedlow Xander Wedlow 6'9" | PF University Prep | 2024 State MI (2024, PF, University Prep)
Wedlow is already a walking and talking double-double machine. For the next 2 plus years, I think I’ll be more surprised if he DOESN’T have 10 plus points and rebounds. Wedlow is a solid all around athlete that rebounds the ball high and with strong hands. He works for high percentage looks close to the rim and can be a nasty finisher on the break.
