The public schools dominated the event this year, winning six out of seven games to hold on to the 2022 MLK Dream Jam crown.
71st HS Junior Guard Xavier Tubbs Xavier Tubbs 6'1" | PG Spire Institute | 2024 OH : The game is really beginning to slow down for him and he’s growing into a very nice dual threat PG. He scored the ball at a high level from the perimeter and inside the paint but where he has really grown is in pick and roll situations. Throughout the day he made the right reads consistently, doing a nice job of setting up his teammates for easy buckets.
Northwood Temple Senior Guard Jaquantae Harris Jaquantae Harris 6'1" | PG Northwood Temple | 2022 State NC : The unsigned senior put on a scoring exhibition, putting the ball in the bucket from all three levels and scoring a game high of thirty-five points. He understands how to use his strength and athleticism to get where he wants as well as attacking at the appropriate angles to draw fouls. Currently he holds an offer from UNCP and plenty of interest from D1 and D2 programs.
Jack Britt Senior Forward Demetri Patterson: He put together a streak of good performances prior to the event and he kept his streak going in their matchup against BBA. Using his size advantage as well as overall skillset to dominate, scoring a game high of 30 points in the win. Over the past year he has transformed his body and progressed nicely skillset wise which has only helped his production. Currently he holds an offer from The University of Mount Olive.
Trinity Christian School Junior Wing Steve Lassiter: His role this season has grown in a major way and it now seems as if he is fully embracing it and flourishing. On Monday against South View he set a new MLK Jam record with an event high of 38 Points as he led his team to a win. He got where he wanted on the court, played the game at his own pace and showed why college coaches should know his name.
Westover Senior Wing Mikey Campbell Mikey Campbell 6'5" | SF Westover | 2022 State NC : The impact that he makes on both ends of the floor for his team is just one of the reasons college coaches should be on him. He uses his length and athleticism to deflect passes and force turnovers which leads to transition opportunities where he can really show his athleticism. Offensively in the half court setting he showed some flashes of what he could be, knocking down several shots from mid and deep.
Terry Sanford Senior Forward Davis Molnar Davis Molnar 6'6" | SF Terry Sanford | 2022 State NC : His scoring numbers on the day will not necessarily wow you but he made an impact on the game in just about every statistical category. Rebounding, facilitating and providing interior defense were all areas that the Furman signee made a nice impact.
Pine Forest Senior Guard Tristin Harkins Tristin Harkins 6'2" | PG Pine Forest | 2022 State NC : His squad jumped out to an early lead in their dominant win and he was one of the reasons why. His perimeter shooting was impressive as usual, and he would go on to finish with a team high of twenty-three points on the day. However his passing was just as impressive, he turned down good shots to get great shots which is an attribute that should help him transition to the next level smoothly.
