I was fortunate to be in the gym on Monday and Tuesday, laying eyes on new prospects. Thursday features “The Game Of The Century Part 2” as Bishop Gorman travels to face Liberty. In this article, we break down this week’s top Storylines.
- 4A Role Players – While It has been a season of stars in the 4A division, several of the “others” stepped up for teams this week. - Game of The Century Part 2 – If you are a true basketball fan then you are not going to want to miss Bishop Gorman vs Liberty this Thursday. I can honestly say, the last two times these teams have taken the court, have been the two greatest H.S basketball games that I have ever witnessed. Two years ago current Gonzaga Zag Julian Strawther had the Patriots seconds away from dethroning the Gaels, only to fall short on a Buzzer Beater by current LSU standout Mwani Wilkinson. In December the Gaels rallied from a 17 point halftime deficit to win the game on a buzzer-beater by sophomore guard John Mobley Jr John Mobley Jr 6'0" | PG Wasatch Academy | 2024 State #55 Nation UT . That game featured 3 buzzer-beaters including one that didn’t count. Now the rematch is set, with both teams undefeated against 5A competition. Senior forward Joshua Jefferson Joshua Jefferson 6'8" | PF Liberty | 2022 State #158 Nation NV will look to add a win over the Gaels to his impressive resume, while Darrion Williams Darrion Williams 6'6" | SF Bishop Gorman | 2022 State NV will look to stake his claim for POY honors. This game is going to come down to guard play and luckily the game features some of the state’s best. DJ Thomas DJ Thomas 6'2" | PG Liberty | 2024 #19 Nation NV is averaging 6 assists per game for the Patriots and his running mate Angelo Kambala Angelo Kambala 5'10" | CG Liberty | 2023 State NV is a 12ppg scorer. The Gaels will attack in waves, as sophomores David Nealy David Nealy 6'2" | SG Stranahan | 2026 #27 Nation FL , and Ryder Elisaldez Ryder Elisaldez 6'1" | CG Bishop Gorman | 2024 State NV team with Mobley to form one of the most electrifying backcourts on the West Coast.
