There were 7 games featuring teams from the 757, Richmond and NOVA area, and there was tons of talent in all classes and a lot of very good basketball games.
Here’s a look at five underclassmen that impressed at the event.
Ulysses Young Ulysses Young 6'0" | CG Oscar Smith | 2024 State VA | 5’10” PG | Oscar Smith 2024
Young was fantastic in Smith’s win over a talented and experienced Peninsula Catholic group, and he showed he’s one of the top young guards in a talented crop of 2024 guards in the 757. He’s an old school PG that is a playmaker first, and he has some sauce to him with a tight handle and very good shift off the bounce, he’s tough to keep out of the lane, he scores it well with the floater and he’s an excellent passer with good vision. He finished with 10 assists according to his coach in the win.
Viktor Parsons | 5’11” WG | Western Branch 2024
Parsons is part of a young Western Branch group that will be very good in the next few years, and he will be a reason why as he plays with great confidence already and showed he’s a game changer. After coming off the bench after an injury to one of their starters, Parsons came in ready to play and make shots and he did so, ringing off multiple three-pointers and bringing good energy to his team. He’s a knock down shooter to keep an eye on moving forward.
Kade Sebastian Kade Sebastian 6'4" | SG DeMatha | 2025 State MD | 6’4” WG | John Champe 2025
Sebastian has been making a lot of noise in the NOVA area as one of their top freshmen, and he came down to the 757 in a hostile environment and showed why in their win over Norview. The 6’4” wing has good size already for his position, he’s an excellent shot maker who has good form and deep range and he shows confidence beyond his years already. He hit multiple big shots and showed he’s not afraid of big moments on the way to double digits in their win.
Kareem Stagg | 6’7” PF | Oscar Smith 2025
Stagg has been tabbed as one of the top freshmen prospects in the 757, and it’s easy to see why as he already has a great frame and good athleticism and he’s only going to get better and better with time. The 6’7” forward made some very athletic plays with some impressive blocks and finishes, he’s already strong enough to bully his way into the paint and finishes well through contact and he’s a good rebounder in and out of his area as well. He finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in their win over Peninsula Catholic.
Martez Harris | 6’9” PF | Cape Henry 2025
Harris is another very impressive freshman prospect in the 757, and he showed flashes of brilliance and will be a go-to guy for Cape over the next few years. At 6’9” he has a strong frame and moves well for his size, he has good touch around the rim and can step out and make plays on the perimeter as well and he’s still growing into his body and likely still growing as well. He finished with 9 points in their loss to Fairfax Christian.
