Hopkins (71) vs Buffalo (63):
Maxsamus Wilson Maxsamus Wilson 6'3" | CG Hopkins | 2023 State MN of Hopkins (6’3” Guard – 2023)
Max was filling up the stat sheet in Hopkins’ Tuesday night win over #9-AAAA Buffalo. The junior guard finished the game with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists! Wilson possesses very advanced court vision and is always hitting his teammates in stride with passes in transition. He also does a great job making the extra pass if he sees defenders help off of their man. Max is a scorer as well, he knocked down a pair of three-pointers and is also excellent around the rim being able to finish with both hands. Wilson is a fiery competitor and is always going to give 100% when he is on the floor.
Antonio Bluiett Antonio Bluiett 6'2" | PG Buffalo | 2022 State MN of Buffalo (6’2” Guard – 2022)
Antonio put on a scoring clinic in their tough matchup with Hopkins. The senior guard finished with a game-high 24 points scoring from all three levels. He is a very strong guard, finding success finishing inside through contact. He also incorporates the mid-range game into his scoring, knocking down numerous jumpers off the dribble. Bluiett can also stretch the floor being able to hit the three ball. Antonio is a very intelligent player and never seems to turn the ball over as well. He is still uncommitted with no basketball offers to my knowledge (he has a couple football offers). If any D2, D3, or NAIA schools are looking for tough and competitive guard, they should get familiar with Antonio.
Jayden Moore of Hopkins (5’10” Guard – 2026)
Jayden is so advanced to only be an 8th grader, it’s ridiculous. Tuesday was the best game I have seen Moore play all season. As expected, it seems that he has gotten more confident as the season has progressed, he is not afraid to play his game at all. He was blowing by defenders all game, capping it off with some really nice acrobatic layups inside. Jayden also connected with a deep, volleyball line three-pointer in the first half really showing off his range. He is also a great passer, finding teammates for open looks. Moore has been so fun to watch this season running with this Hopkins squad, sky is truly the limit!
South St. Paul (72) vs Mound Westonka (55):
Alonzo Dodd Alonzo Dodd 6'2" | CG South St Paul | 2022 State MN of South St. Paul (6’2” Guard – 2022)
Alonzo was doing everything for his team in their win over Mound Westonka. He is the definition of an all-around player. He can score, he can pass, he can defend, and was also the best rebounder on the floor as a 6’2” point guard. Dodd is so shifty and almost impossible to stay in front of. He is also very unpredictable with his dribble moves and acrobatic finishes at the rim. Zo also possesses a sneaky high vertical as he rose up for a putback dunk to give his team the momentum in the second half. He is a legit contender for the Mr. Basketball award.
Jake Dallman Jake Dallman 6'2" | SF Mound-Westonka | 2022 State MN of Mound Westonka (6’2” Guard – 2022)
The two aspects of Jake’s game that really stand out are his passing vision and his competitiveness. The White Hawks play a very high paced offense and this allows Dallman to find teammates in transition with full court passes. Mainly being a facilitator, Jake showed flashes of what he can do scoring the ball as well, knocking down a pair of three-pointers off the dribble and off the catch-and-shoot. Jake is a key contributor to this senior led Mound Westonka team.
Cretin-Derham Hall (84) vs Totino-Grace (101):
Taison Chatman Taison Chatman 6'4" | PG Totino Grace | 2023 State #35 Nation MN of Totino-Grace (6’4” Guard – 2023)
Taison was on fire in their win over Cretin-Derham Hall! The nationally ranked junior knocked down 7 threes on his way to a team-high 29 points. Chatman was not missing in the second half, hitting 6 of those 7 threes in just a couple of minutes. Taison’s game is just so smooth as he makes the tough shots look easy. He has solidified himself as arguably the best player in the state of Minnesota. Chatman currently holds offers from numerous power five schools and it is hard to believe that he still has another year left of high school after this season.
Ahjany Lee Ahjany Lee 6'9" | C Byron | 2022 State #145 Nation MN of Totino-Grace (6’11” Forward – 2022)
Saturday night was the best I have ever seen Ahjany play. The St. Thomas signee got off to a hot start, scoring the Eagles’ first four baskets. After that, Lee was dominating the paint all game and CDH had no answer. He finished the game with 25 points, the majority of those coming off of second chance opportunities and in the pick & roll. He was also effective in transition handling the ball and finding teammates for open shots. The amount of star power that Totino-Grace has is scary and I am looking forward to their next matchup on Friday with Park Center as the top two teams in the state go head-to-head in round one of this great two game series we will get.
Donavhan Cain of Cretin-Derham Hall (6’5” Guard – 2022)
Donavhan has continued to show off his athleticism and scoring abilities this season. Cain is an incredible isolation player, being able to knock down off-balance shots with ease off of different step backs, side steps, crossovers, etc. He also threw down a couple of highlight reel dunks as expected, finishing the contest with 28 points. Donavhan and Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN have been a very fun duo to watch this season and I still anticipate them to make a run late, even after a shaky start to the year.
