The list was compiled from scout observations as well as recommendations from coaches around the state. The result was a list of 45 freshmen. While most of them are players to watch for the future, we will take a look at some of the freshman who have been contributing on the varsity level this year.
Aidan Anding Aidan Anding 6'0" | SG Ruston | 2025 State LA
Anding is one of the reasons that the Bearcats from Ruston only have three losses. He is a very good man-to-man defender who has a very low center of gravity. He stays connected to offensive players well and prevents comfortable shots from players he is defending. On the offensive end, he is a very good three point shooter and offensive rebounder for his size. He is a solid contributor to Ruston’s success.
Marcus Lofton Marcus Lofton 5'9" | PG Captain Shreve | 2023 ND
Lofton recently has been inserted into the Captain Shreve lineup as a spot starter. What has happened is that the Gators have gone from a team with one ballhandler to a team with an additional threat on the floor. Lofton appears to be very comfortable handling the ball against varsity defenders and will take open shots. He gives the Gators an added dimension which should help them going into district play.
Jeremiah Lucas Jeremiah Lucas 6'4" | SG Bonnabel | 2025 State #311 Nation LA
Bonnabel is off to a modest start this season with a 9-7 record. One of the big reasons has been the shooting contributions from Jeremiah Lucas Jeremiah Lucas 6'4" | SG Bonnabel | 2025 State #311 Nation LA . While being one of the better three point shooters for the Bruins, he has been a pleasant surprise on the defensive end. He has had multiple games with two or more steals and has had games with mulitple blocks also. His play has definitely been a brightspot for the Bruins.
Antron Mason II Antron Mason II 6'1" | CG Wossman | 2025 State LA
Mason has often been one of the first players off the bench all season. He plays more like an upperclassmen and does not play afraid of the varsity spotlight. Mason has led the Wildcats in scoring on occasion and has also played a big role in controlling the tempo for Wossman during contests. He has shown the capability to score on all three levels and distribute as well. He is a freshman with a very high ceiling.
Bryson Williams Bryson Williams 5'10" | CG Southwood | 2025 State LA
Southwood has not gotten off to the hottest start but they have gotten contributions from Williams during the season. He often comes in as a change of pace guard who has held his own on the defensive end for the Cowboys. Williams has shown that he can handle the rock in transition and make the proper passes for buckets. While he has rarely shot the ball, Williams has proven that he belongs on a varsity floor.
Jaden Williams Jaden Williams 6'1" | CG Carroll | 2025 State LA
Williams may be one of the better guards in Louisiana before his career is done. In one trip to Southwood, he played point guard during the freshman and junior varsity games before subbing into the varsity game. Williams has a creative handle and can get to the rim very quickly. He plays with passion and a lot of skill. With his handle and scoring potential, Williams is a danger on the floor whenever he has the ball.
