The game had a lot of feeling out the first half before Pick North pulled away in the second half. They wound up winning the game 55-46. Top players of the game for both teams include:
Jerry Saunders Jerry Saunders 6'0" | SG Pickerington North | 2022 State OH (2022) G 6’1. Pickerington North
This kid is a flat-out bucket. He has an old fashion game that, stylistically, reminds me of Demar Derozen because of his impeccable mid-range game and how he operates within the arc. He hit multiple tough pull-ups and even showed the ability to play with his back to the basket as he has a very deep bag when the defenders are on his back – he had an ultra-tough drop-step baseline step back bucket in the first half. He has a very simple but effective game as it showed when he got multiple points on one-dribble moves. He has very nice athleticism and length to compliment his game. Saunders has a very high IQ as he read the multiple screens set for him correctly all game.
Arness Lawson (2025) PG 6’1. Pickerington North
Arness Lawson is an unbelievable prospect. The 6’1 and very lengthy freshman has major tools to his game. He is very quick and has a bounce to his step. Lawson has good finishing ability and a very tight handle. I loved his patience as he did not force anything all night. He showed the ability to run the offense very effectively for the Panthers. He is always calm and has a great pace to his game that never gets sped up. Great vision and passer. Lawson already has an offer to Ohio and I expect this kid to be very highly recruited and get plenty of offers as his game and body continue to develop.
Quinn Corna Quinn Corna 6'3" | SG Upper Arlington | 2022 State OH (2022) G 6’3. Upper Arlington
Corna is a three-point sharpshooter. He is a high-volume shooter that has an unlimited range. He loves the three-pointer and wants to shoot it but I was impressed with his offensive ability when he was forced to put it on the floor. He is a very high IQ player as he read screens correctly all night long and made Pickerington North defenders pay if they closed out on him out of control. He had multiple tough finishes. He has a great jab step that helps him get a step on more athletic players. I love his game as he is a leader, tough, and got his teammates involved all night with his underrated vision.
Corey Hudson Corey Hudson 6'1" | PG Pickerington North | 2022 State OH (2022) G 6’0. Pickerington North
Corey Hudson Corey Hudson 6'1" | PG Pickerington North | 2022 State OH came through big for Pick North on Tuesdays night as he scored a team-high 18 points. Corey has very nice athleticism and build. He is a slasher that seeks contact when going to the rim. Comes off screens with hard and tight curls towards the basket. When Hudson gets the ball in close he has a knack for finding the right angle and touch to put the ball in the basket.
Geoffrey Schoney Geoffrey Schoney 5'11" | PG Upper Arlington | 2022 State OH (2022) G 6’0. Upper Arlington
Geoffrey is a highly competitive kid. He rose to the occasion of the high intense battle against Pickerington North as he scored a game-high 19. He got multiple big-time buckets for UA when Pick North tried to pull away. He finished multiple tough layups. He showed off some great range as he hit a couple of three-pointers for the Golden Bears.
Jaiden Vital (2024) G 6’2. Pickerington North
Jaiden is a dual-sport athlete and it showed as he is a very raw athlete. I think Vital has great potential because of the foundations he already has. He is 6’2, long, strong, and can move very well. He only got spot minutes for the Panthers but I think if he developed his skill set more, the duo of he and Lawson could be a major problem in Columbus when they are upperclassmen.
