Senior Big Men Lead Team to Wins
It was a pretty easy road win for Bartlett on Friday night against Glenbard East. Their 7’3” center Conrad Luczynski Conrad Luczynski 7'2" | C Bartlett | 2022 State IL showcased his skills in this one recording 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 steals, and 3 assists. Offensively he displayed a nice hook shot with either hand. Sealed well in the paint and finished dump off passes. Got up the floor for a transition score. He passed it pretty well himself recording a couple dimes on offensive rebounds. Defensively he was a force altering or blocking shots in the paint. His opponent was scared to shoot it in the lane when they got in there. Moved better than we remembered in space on that end. He is worth a look for a D2 program that plays a traditional five. Liberty commit Zach Cleveland Zach Cleveland 6'8" | PF Normal West | 2022 State IL didn’t have a huge scoring night only notching 11 points, but make no mistake he completely runs this team. The face up four man is an excellent passer that fed his teammates all over the floor. He is a very good defensive rebounder. Also displayed mobility on the defensive end switching along with contesting shots. Offensively his ability to be an inside/outside threat will be very coveted at the next level.
2024s Continue to Make Names
The other key prospect on Bartlett is 2024 point guard Kelton McEwen Kelton McEwen 6'2" | PG Wheaton St. Francis | 2024 State IL . High IQ guard made sound decisions in the half court with his passing hitting shooters and cutters for scores. Also fed the big fella with sound post feeds. As a scorer he displayed a crisp jump shot both pulling up and hit a three off the catch. Pressured the ball on the defensive end. Went for 15 points. Normal Community has several talented 2024s of their own. Top 10 center Jaheem Webber Jaheem Webber 6'9" | C Normal Community | 2024 State #300 Nation IL has high-major potential with his strong frame and how well he finishes in the paint. Understands positioning and uses his strong hands in the paint to rebound. Shot blocking presence and showed more lateral footspeed defending than we had previously seen. Went for 8 points. Braylon Roman Braylon Roman 6'3" | SG Normal Community | 2024 State IL is another to track on Normal Community. Long and lanky shooting guard that has a clean looking shot and had a slick runner. Normal West point guard Gavin Camp is another sophomore that caught our attention hitting some big shots along with being pesky defensively.
Small College Seniors to Track
With the season coming to an end the available 2022 prospects are in the process of looking for their college homes. Bartlett had a 6’2” senior guard in Ian Smith that can hit an open shot and played his role in an 8 point outing. Glenbard East 6’4” shooting guard Tyrese Buffkin is an athletic wing that had a couple of acrobatic layups scoring in the open floor. Also made a several nice passes in the half court. Right hand dominant, but worth a look. Normal Community 2022 point guard Trey Redd Trey Redd 5'11" | PG Normal Community | 2022 State IL is the highest ranked prospect among these players. He got off to a hot start scoring 10 of his 12 points in the first half. What we like about Redd is his slick ball handling and ability to break down defenders off the bounce for scores in the lane or kicking to teammates for open looks. High end D3/NAIA that in the right situation could be a D2 guy. Crofton Perry is a strong bodied shooting guard that knocked in several key threes for Normal Community. Normal West senior guard Jamarcus Webb stepped up big in this game leading his team with 12 points. Well-built guard that plays with a toughness. Max Ziebarth opened our eyes with a strong second half. The put together power forward finished junk points inside but also stretched the floor with a clean looking stroke. Seemed to have a nose for the basketball.
