Farmington vs. Davis
Two of the best local high school players in the state squared off in Rex Sunderland Rex Sunderland 6'4" | PG Davis | 2022 State UT and Collin Chandler Collin Chandler 6'5" | CG Farmington | 2022 State #28 Nation UT . The gym was standing room only as thousands witness this new rivalry born as new region foes. The player that stole the show was Sawyer Cotrell. The 6’4 CG woke up in the second half and went off. Kid was in a zone and his catch and shoot game was something else. Sawyer was the difference in a game that came down to the wire. Rex Sunderland Rex Sunderland 6'4" | PG Davis | 2022 State UT was impressive as he was getting in the lane and picking Farmington apart like a QB reading the defense. Devin Day Devin Day 6'3" | SG Farmington | 2022 State UT had a solid game and Paul Beattie Paul Beattie 6'9" | PF Farmington | 2024 State UT was active on the boards but in the end, teams will need to hit more that 2 three’s to upset Davis. Round 2 is going to be a must watch.
Pleasant Grove vs. Bingham
When it comes to the best teams in the state these two teams went 2 vs. 3 and the # 2 Bingham Miners pulled it out i a tough game that featured some talented players. 6’3 SG Luke Leatherwood Luke Leatherwood 6'4" | SG Bingham | 2022 State UT was nice coming off of screens and getting good looks. He rebounds and pushes the tempo. on the other side you had 6’3 McCaden Adams McCaden Adams 6'3" | CG Pleasant Grove | 2022 State UT of Pleasant Grove just chipping away getting looks on back-doors. Really like him at the next level a he snakes his way in the lane, he has speed and he is patient. Bingham showed the ability to really get out on teams as they started the game on a 16-4 run.
Corner Canyon vs. Copper Hills
This game on paper and because of the high ranking of Corner Canyon and the talent the have was a game that the chargers were favored. Copper Hills did not care and they all saw that Luke Moir Luke Moir 6'6" | SF Copper Hills | 2022 State UT was too much for the Chargers to handle so they kept feeding him. Luke was scoring at will all over the floor. He was stepping out and hitting three’s and he was bullying his way against the slender bigs at Corner. He is an emerging prospect in that Class of 2022 as a 6’6 SF/W.
