David Castillo David Castillo 6'1" | PG Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) | 2024 #80 Nation KS with his resume in Oklahoma and on national platforms is a no brainer top prospect right now. The next group of prospects behind them does not have much separation. There are strong cases to be made for the players currently ranked from 2-7 to be ordered in just about any manner.
Early in a class’ cycle, the prospects with size will stand out. Size and athletic ability are two premiums that college coaches look for in their recruits. That is why the top 5 has an emphasis on a group of very promising forwards. Here’s a breakdown on the current top 5 in a class that looks like it will have good Division One depth.
David Castillo David Castillo 6'1" | PG Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) | 2024 #80 Nation KS , 6’2 Combo Guard, Bartlesville
Already ranked a five star by many national platforms, the Bartlesville Bruins has the offer list from high major programs to back up his top ranking. He also has the USA Junior experience with a U16 FIBA Americas Gold Medal. In state, he’s been a scoring machine. What’s impressive about his feel for the game is his ability to play without the ball. Many young scorers are ball dominators, but Castillo is willing to keep the ball moving and most importantly himself to find new openings against the defense. One possible area of improvement for the sophomore will be to shoot more pull ups, instead of always crashing inside looking for contact. Especially with the crowds he draws when driving.
Dylan Warlick Dylan Warlick 6'6" | SF Edmond North | 2024 State #226 Nation OK , 6’6 Forward, Edmond North
Consistency is what puts the Edmond North post presence at the second spot in this current set of rankings. He’s a walking double-double machine for a squad that is firmly in the Class 6A title mix. Warlick is most comfortable with doing the dirty work and being a physical impact player around the rim. Many prospects don’t relish that important part of the game. Or have the same feel as him; making his throwback nature one of his best traits . He’s a smart passer, while also improving as a face up driver and shooter. It’s possible he doesn’t have as high of a ceiling as other prospects on this list, but his consistency is remarkable and should keep him among the top prospects in Class of 2024 for the upcoming seasons.
Chris Mason Chris Mason 6'6" | PF Victory Christian | 2024 State OK , 6’6 Forward, Union
The upside is off charts with Mason. He’s off to a productive sophomore campaign with the Redhawks. His best trait is the explosiveness that he contains in his already strong frame. It allows him to be a monster on the boards, a strong rim protector and a danger to tear down the rim in transition. There is room to grow with Mason, as he is developing a good jumper. And he does have the raw tools to turn into more of a hybrid forward type.
Luke Gray Luke Gray 6'7" | PF Oklahoma Christian | 2024 State OK , 6’7 Forward, Oklahoma Christian
Gray is a human highlight reel for the current top ranked Class 3A team. The sophomore already plays above the rim thanks to his combination athletic ability and big wingspan. It’s kind of shocking that a player with his raw template has yet to pick up a Division One offer. He already looks like a no brainer for low to mid majors. And if he keeps growing, or adds more touch to his jumper and more overall feel for the game, he has clear high major upside. Right now he’s dominating the small school ranks and should be poised for a big spring and summer of travel ball.
Chiante Tramble Chiante Tramble 6'2" | PG Edmond North | 2024 State OK , 6’2 Point Guard, Moore
Narrowly beating out fellow super sophomores Ja’Mon Valentine Ja’Mon Valentine 6'2" | CG Choctaw | 2024 State OK and Dayton Forsythe Dayton Forsythe 6'3" | PG Dale | 2024 State #206 Nation OK for the fifth spot in the list is the floor general for the resurgent Moore Lions. Extremely skilled and always in control, Tramble can score with the best of them. He’s a good shooter, but is especially dangerously as as a crafty and strong driver. What really helps separates Tramble from some of his peers is his excellent basketball IQ. The Moore Lion is adept at handing out assist and making his teammates better. This is his second straight year of producing at the Class 6A level, and this year the wins are coming along with his strong numbers.
