The 60th Annual Metro Holiday Basketball Tournament concluded the evening of December 31st, crowning the Omaha Westside Warriors the tournament champions of the Omaha Metro Conference.
After a thrilling two days of tournament play, the final matchup for the title would be between the Bellevue West Thunderbirds and the Westside Warriors. It would be a fairly close match-up between the two teams. The 3rd quarter was the determining factor in Omaha Westside’s 76-68 victory, outscoring the Thunderbirds 28 to 20 in the third period. Bellevue West guard Josiah Dotzler Josiah Dotzler 6'3" | CG Bellevue West | 2023 State #225 Nation NE (Game High 24 points) and the Thunderbirds put up one heck of a battle but would be shot down. Tate Odvody Tate Odvody 6'4" | SF Omaha Westside | 2023 State NE (Westside Warriors) had the most important performance. Odvody is a player who simply understands how to play the game when to swing the ball, and the right moment to slash to the basket. Chandler Meeks Chandler Meeks 6'1" | CG Omaha Westside | 2022 State NE played solid. Meeks did all the right things and played with accuracy all across the board. The Warriors look to push forward to the state finals.
