Whether it be the influence of a Division I University nearby, or simply the beauty of the Palouse that has created such great basketball skill, it is an easy task to find quality basketball players throughout the entire region. As the season continues to grind along and teams get deeper into their conference schedules, watch for the central Idaho teams to make big impacts in March. Logos-Moscow vs. Genesee: Logos-Moscow stormed away with a big win over Genesee recently in central Idaho Featuring two of the best programs in the Whitepine League, Logos-Moscow was able to use a balanced attack to overtake Genesee in a hard-fought battle. Logos-Moscow was led by a 16 point performance from Will Casebolt who was also the high-scorer for either team. Will did a great job of getting into the paint and scoring at the rim over the top of tough defenders. In addition, Aiden Elmore scored 10 points and helped Logos-Moscow by knocking down some big shots from behind the arc. For Genesee, Cameron Meyer had 13 points and showed some of his great passing skills and court vision, while Jack Johnson (no, not the singer) chipped in 11 points to round out double-digit scorers.
Cascade vs. Salmon River: Cascade put together a solid run in the second half in order to pull out a late victory over Salmon River. As Cascade used a lot of great outside shooting to help them overcome an early deficit, Salmon River struggled to score in the second half and couldn’t execute their defensive schemes. Cascade was led by 18 points from Tyler Thurston Tyler Thurston 5'10" | PG Cascade | 2024 State ID on a hot shooting night from deep. Samuel Huckaby scored 12 points around the rim and Gavin Nitzel added 10 points to help punctuate Cascade’s victory. On the other side of the ball, Gabe Zavala led his team in scoring with 18 points and a mix of rebounds, steals, and assists, and Dawson Whitney contributed 12 points.
