Check out some of the player evals from this week.
Player Evaluations
Kanon Catchings Kanon Catchings 6'8" | PF Overtime Elite (GA) | 2024 #31 Nation GA (Brownsburg) – 2024 6’4” SF
Catchings is a long and lanky wing with a ton of potential in his game. He scores the ball incredibly well, and he can do it in so many different ways. His go-to shot is a mid-range pull-up, but he also hit a three and finished through contact. Catchings also threw down two fastbreak dunks, through fouls, which showed off his insane athleticism. He is one to watch in the future for sure.
Jake Davis Jake Davis 6'6" | SF Cathedral | 2023 State IN (Indianapolis Cathedral) – 2023 6’6” SF
Davis is a big wing who I continue to like more and more, every single time that I see him. He can absolutely stroke it from the outside, and he uses his strength and physicality to attack the glass and attack the hole when he needs to. Davis also made some nice passes to set up his teammates. Overall, Davis is the glue guy that holds this team together, and he should see much more college interest than he has so far.
Nic Depasquale Nic Depasquale 6'2" | SG Westfield | 2022 State IN (Westfield) – 2022 6’1” SF
Depasquale is a smaller wing who is always the toughest player on the court when he plays. He is tough on the glass and physical on the inside. Nic showed off some good post moves, and although he is a little unorthodox, he scored it well. Depasquale ended with 10 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.
Elhadj Diallo (Brownsburg) – 2023 6’4” SF
Diallo is a very impressive scorer with good size and good length. He shot lights out in this one, and he can score in many different ways. Diallo is masterful on the catch and shoot, and he went 3-5 from the outside. He also made some physical finishes inside and knocked down the free throws to seal the win. Diallo is a great scorer, and he will be one to watch develop more this summer for sure.
Jaxon Edwards Jaxon Edwards 6'6" | SF Cathedral | 2022 State IN (Indianapolis Cathedral) – 2022 6’6” SF
Edwards is a long wing who can basically do it all, and he has continued to improve many areas of his game throughout this season. He showed off his insane athleticism with a couple of fast-break slams, but what I was happiest about for his game on Saturday was the two mid-range pull-ups that he knocked down without hesitation. He ended with 9 points on two mid-range jumpers and two dunks, and he also had two blocks to affect the opponents on the defensive end. Look for Edwards to be an impact player at Murray State next season.
Rasheed Jones Rasheed Jones 6'6" | SF Arsenal Tech | 2022 State IN (Indianapolis Tech) – 2022 6’6” SF
Jones is a long wing who causes matchup nightmares on both ends of the floor. On offense, he can get to the rim with his long strides and finish over or through the defender, and he can also rise up and knock down the triple as well. On defense, Jones used his length to come up with deflections and three steals. Overall, Jones has two Division 1 offers (New Orleans and Winthrop), and I really think that he should have some more coming his way soon. There is no doubt that the potential is there.
Chase Konieczny Chase Konieczny 6'4" | SG South Bend Saint Joseph | 2025 State #277 Nation IN (South Bend St. Joseph) – 2025 6’4” SF
Konieczny is a long and lanky freshman who has a ton of potential in his game. Chase plays a lot like his older brother, J.R., who is a freshman at Notre Dame right now. On the offensive end of the floor, Chase shows off a great mid-range pull-up jumper, and he always is looking to push the tempo. However, he can get sped up at times which leads to some freshman mistakes. He is also very active and aggressive on the glass. Konieczny would end with 9 points and 9 rebounds in the loss.
Christian Nunn Christian Nunn 6'3" | SF L'anse Creuse North | 2022 State IN (Indianapolis Attucks) – 2022 6’4” SF
Nunn is a big wing who uses his strength and physicality to make plays around the rim. He is strong on the glass on both ends of the floor, and he can finish strong through contact. Nunn also showed off a nice little floater in the lane to avoid the bigger shot blockers of Cathedral. Nunn has several Division 3 offers right now, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he got a couple more before the end of the year. Nunn ended with 8 points and 4 rebounds in the loss.
Aaron Pickel Aaron Pickel 6'3" | SG North Putnam | 2022 IN (North Putnam) – 2022 6’2” SF
Pickel is a smaller wing who uses his physicality and basketball IQ to get inside the lane, and he seems to create contact and finish through it on every drive. He seems to always put himself in a good position on the glass. Pickel used his toughness and heart to get North Putnam back in the game and eventually pull it off. Pickel ended with 17 points and 9 boards in the win.
Kyle Thomas Kyle Thomas 6'4" | SG Cloverdale | 2022 State IN (Cloverdale) – 2022 6’4” SF
Thomas is a big wing with a ton of talent, and he showed that on Thursday. He is an insane shooter with a quick release, and despite being face guarded the entire game, he was able to have a 23 point performance in the loss. He looks to get downhill with the ball in his hand, and despite having no left hand, he was able to be smooth and finish around the rim. Thomas has offers from Cedarville and IU-South Bend, and he has the potential to be a great Division 3 player in the future.
