Taison Chatman Taison Chatman 6'4" | PG Totino Grace | 2023 State #35 Nation MN of Totino-Grace (6’4 Guard, 2023). Taison Chatman Taison Chatman 6'4" | PG Totino Grace | 2023 State #35 Nation MN has one of the more incredible runs in a game you will see. He was fouled hard going at the rim on a fast break and there was also a technical foul. Taison hit all four foul shots and followed that with a three for seven points on one possession. He then hit three more threes over the next few minutes and completely blew the doors off the contest. He finished the game with 29 points on 9 of 15 shooting plus dished out eight assists and had seven rebounds. And that was with Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN – noted for his ball pressure – defending him.
Alonzo Dodd Alonzo Dodd 6'2" | CG South St Paul | 2022 State MN of South St. Paul (6’1 Guard, 2022). When it comes to respect I have as much for Alonzo as I do for anyone. He’s always been a coach on the floor, but now so more than ever. Today he has nearly a triple-double and did it while getting hurt twice. Sore or not, Dodd was the point guard (9 assists), the main defender (5 steals), the best rebounder on the floor and it wasn’t close (14 caroms collected), and a high percentage scorer (22 points on 7 of 10 shooting, 7 of 8 at the foul line). This kid deserves a spot on a D1 team. There are so many roles you could bring him off the bench to play next year.
Tre Holloman Tre Holloman 6'2" | PG Cretin-Derham Hall | 2022 State #57 Nation MN of Cretin-Derham Hall (6’3 Guard 2022). You have to appreciate the way Holloman competes. His start was not good missing on eight of first nine shots. But Holloman continued to create for others – only some of the attempts were completed – and when the game looked to be over Holloman kept attacking. Once he saw three or four shots go down he started knocking out jumpers. Then Tre hit threes. Next thing you know he turned a tough night into a 36 point showing with three threes and 12 of 23 shooting overall. Holloman scored on 8 of his last 9 attempts and three of those were at the arc so they weren’t some late game gimmies. The future Spartan got something out of a tough loss.
Ahjany Lee Ahjany Lee 6'9" | C Byron | 2022 State #145 Nation MN of Totino-Grace (6’10 Big 2022). Ahjany Lee Ahjany Lee 6'9" | C Byron | 2022 State #145 Nation MN has had an elite couple weeks production wise. He is going after putbacks with effort, running the floor with a focus, and collecting every rebound he can. At 6’10 and that agile with insane length, Lee was a game changer. He scored the first seven points of the game and set the tone inside. Lee scored 25 – all in the paint – with 12 rebounds and did it on 12 of 18 shooting, That’s a nationally ranked big right there and yes UST got a high major steal for the Summit League.
Sebastian Loder Sebastian Loder 6'3" | SF Orono | 2022 State MN of Orono (6’2 SG 2022). Loder has had a wonderful season and he just put together a memorable finish in a big game hitting six of his last seven shots and scoring the game winner. Not just any game winner, Loder turned on the jets and beat all the defenders to the rim in a full court sprint beating contesting hands for the W just before the buzzer sounded. He scored 25 points for the game hitting 10 of 24 attempts and did a lot of his work inside the arc. Impressive performance from a tough player that I think will make for a hell of a MIAC recruit.
