A well run event at a top notch facility featuring very good talent, it was a big event for the entire community.
Here’s a look at part one of the many 2022 standouts from the event.
George Beale | 6’4” WF | King’s Fork
The MVP of the day was no question, as Beale had the most dominant performance by far and it came in a convincing win over Cape Henry. The 6’4” LIU-Brooklyn commit started getting it going early and never looked back, as he showed dominant three level scoring ability both off the catch and off the bounce, he rebounded well on both ends of the floor and he made a ton of plays on the defensive end too. He finished with 34 points on 14-for-26 shooting from the floor, 15 rebounds and 4 assists in the win.
George Cutler | 6’0” PG | Cape Henry
While Cape struggled in the second half of the game against King’s Fork, Cutler continues to show that he’s one of the toughest guys in the 757 to guard off the bounce and has been getting it done consistently. The 6’0” PG has a mix of shift off the bounce with great change of pace and a tight handle and strength in the paint as he can play through contact, he creates space well and he’s improved his shooting from deep and in the midrange. He finished with 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting and didn’t turn it over once against the pressure defense.
CJ Bailey CJ Bailey 6'1" | CG Cape Henry | 2022 State VA | 6’0” CG | Cape Henry
Bailey got off to a hot start for Cape as he was feeling it early and nailing shots, and he provided stout defense throughout the game as well. He’s a high motor and smooth guard who can stay in front and deny guys off the ball, he picks his spots and can make shots off the catch and off the bounce and he plays with good energy and makes the hustle plays too.
Brian Alexander | 6’3” WG | Maury
Alexander set the tone early in their win over Oscar Smith, as he got off to a fast start and helped them open a big lead early. The 6’3” two guard is an athletic and all-out type of player who brings it on both ends of the floor, he can make shots from all three levels and uses his athleticism to make shots over players and he can get hot and score it in bunches. He finished as the MVP of the game with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals for his team.
Cam Jones | 6’2” WG | Maury
While Alexander provided a big scoring punch early, Jones brought the toughness to this group throughout the game and honestly the two of them being the way they are is what makes Maury so good. The 6’2” off guard plays like a giant as he rebounds in traffic against bigger players, he can play bully ball in the paint and is comfortable creating shots on the perimeter and he has a good feel and IQ on both ends. He finished with 8 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists.
Sean Bell | 6’4” PF | Maury
Bell was the x-factor for the Commodores, as he provides strength in the paint but is also a midrange assassin and was extremely efficient off the bench for them. What the 6’4” forward lacks in height he makes up for in brute strength and he’s able to clear space in the paint, he shoots it well out to 15 feet and he knows his game and plays within it as well. He finished with 12 points on 6-for-6 shooting and 4 rebounds in the win.
