Chris Johnson Chris Johnson 6'6" | CG Montverde Academy | 2023 State #27 Nation FL 2023 6’4 Fort Bend Elkins High School
Chris is a dynamic scorer with great size at the guard position, his ability to handle the ball, get downhill and get his shot off the dribble was incredibly impressive. His constant aggression and willingness to attack the basket ended up putting a ton of pressure on the defense of every team he faced. He lived in the paint and subsequently the free throw line as well. I was blown away by his ability to dominate in the midrange with his back to the basket, he was incredibly tough to defend once the defense was on its heels trying to protect the paint and he rose up for a quick two dribble pull up. He ended up being one of the tournaments top scorers. Johnson is going to end up being a very special player, and a college coach is going to get one hell of a prospect.
Jace Posey Jace Posey 6'4" | SG Houston Strake Jesuit | 2023 State #79 Nation TX 2023 Strake Jesuit High School
Jace is a special combo guard who can fill it up from all three levels. I was blown away by his aggressiveness and willingness to take over the game and attack the basket. When his team began to go down early in the second quarter, he single-handidly put the team on his back and changed the momentum in the game by getting a few big time dunks, And-1s and hitting tough shots in the midrange. Posey is a prospect to keep your eye on, especially as he continues to develop and have break out games like this one!
Ronyo Obou 2023 Fort Bend Bush
Ronyo is a sharp shooting combo guard who thrives at getting to his shot off the dribble. He is a confident one on one player who seems to be able to get his shot over anyone. I was also really impressed with his willingness to take whatever the defense gave him, if they sagged off he shot over them, if they pressured him up top he gave them a head fake and went downhill. Obou is a very intelligent player who reads the game well on both ends of the floor. He has all the tools to become a skilled combo guard at the next level if he continues to work and put on a bit more weight.
Keanu Dawes Keanu Dawes 6'8" | SF Stratford | 2023 State #186 Nation TX 6’8 2023 Forward Stratford High School
Keanu is a supremely athletic big man who is a paint beast. His ability to dominate coming downhill full speed really put pressure on the defense and made defenders hesitant to jump with him. I really loved watching him operate in the mid post and taking one to two power dribbles and getting to his spot at the rim. The big man has the ability to dunk everything and really seems to provide a spark with his energy and athleticism on both ends of the floor. I was really impressed with his touch in the midrange and the touch he is able to put on full court outlet passes to jump start a fast break. Dawes is beginning to see some major attention from some high level programs, including Tennessee, Texas A&M and TCU Universities.
