Now that the calendar has turned to January of 2022 it is time to start highlighting the players that are still on the board. There are plenty of prospects for coaches at all levels still searching for a home here in the Hoosier state. Over the course of the coming weeks we will continue to highlight more and more prospects for your programs to keep an eye on. For now, here are five uncommitted forwards in the Indiana Class of 2022.
A.J. Dixon A.J. Dixon 6'5" | SF Merrillville | 2022 State IN (Merrillville H.S. 2022)
One of the more versatile players still available, Dixon can play any wing/forward spot and guard every position on the floor. He has a long, 6’5″ frame with good strength. Offensively he is very good driver that can cause matchup problems for opposing defenses. Dixon is a great finisher inside with the athleticism to get up and finish above the rim. Holds a few NAIA offers and should continue to be recruited by schools at that level.
Kaleo Kakalia Kaleo Kakalia 6'6" | PF Mishawaka Marian | 2022 State IN (Mishawaka Marian H.S. 2022)
Speaking of versatile forwards, this 6’6″ athlete from Mishawaka Marian certainly fits that mold as well. Kakalia is very mobile, runs the floor well, and is an excellent finisher around the basket. He has the ability to step out and drive the ball from the wings as well. Averaging 8.9 points and 6.4 rebounds for one of the best Class 3A teams in the state. One of the better small college forward prospects in the state at this point.
Sam King Sam King 6'8" | PF Columbus North | 2022 State IN (Columbus North H.S. 2022)
King is having an excellent senior season for Columbus North averaging 13.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. He is strong and efficient around the basket, can step out to the 15-18 foot range with consistency, and is an all-around high IQ player. Moves well on the defensive end of the floor as well with the ability to guard ballscreens and switch when needed. The 6’5″ forward positively impacts winning when he is on the court.
Jaiden Malichi Jaiden Malichi 6'8" | C Cathedral | 2022 State IN (Cathedral H.S. 2022)
If you like high-energy players, you are going to love Cathedral’s 6’8″ center. Malichi has been excellent off of the bench backing up Xavier Booker Xavier Booker 6'11" | PF Cathedral | 2023 State #4 Nation IN this season and has absolutely starred in his role. He is an excellent, above-the-rim finisher, tenacious offensive rebounder, and great rim-runner. Malichi will bring an infectious energy and toughness to any college program. Small colleges in need of size need to look no further. This is your answer.
Sean Paige Sean Paige 6'8" | C Anderson | 2022 State IN (Anderson H.S. 2022)
Paige is a physical 6’8″ 5-man that is really tough to stop with his back to the basket. Very strong on the block that can duck-in hard, get deep post catches, and finish with his right hand over his left shoulder. He has excellent feet and hands around the basket as well. Agile for as big as he is. Currently holds an offer from DII Clark Atlanta along with a ton of small college interest. One of the best available 5-men in Indiana.
