Q & A with Coach Brett Gardner
What has been the highlight of the season so far?
“We are excited that we have been able to play well in front of our home fans (Pierre, West Central), but also have had some nice showings on the road as well (Parkson, Madison, Todd County).”
What are your goals for the rest of the season?
“We need to continue to improve on ball security and finishing with contact. We would like to shoot more free throws in every game.”
Who have been your top players defensively?
“We have some nice defensive players that do a nice job on the opposing team’s best players, but I would say our team defense as a whole has been the staple of our program.”
What has been your team’s identity so far or what do you hang your hat on?
“We really work hard on the defensive end and finish with a rebound. We take pride in guarding our man in open space but know we will have backside help behind us. We talk about finishing each possession with a rebound and chinning the basketball.”
