Prep Hoops Illinois took in a monster matchup between Southwest Conference rivals on Friday as East St. Louis went on the road to play O’Fallon.  See who won, how they did it, and the prospects that stepped up in 3 Takeaways: East St. Louis vs O’Fallon

 

Flyers Fly High in Second Half

East St. Louis carried a 13-3 record coming in while O’Fallon was 15-2.  It looked like O’Fallon was going to protect their home turf without one of their top players in Caleb Burton Caleb Burton 6'3" | PG O'Fallon | 2022 State IL who was out with an injury.  They were the best team through the first 2 ½ quarters holding a 30-18 lead.  East St. Louis then ripped off a 29-14 run to close out the win 47-44.

 

East St. Louis Duo Does It All in Win

The reason East St. Louis won this game was their duo of 2022 point guard Christian Jones Christian Jones 6'4" | SG East St. Louis | 2022 State IL and 2023 forward Macaleab Rich Macaleab Rich 6'4" | SF East St. Louis | 2023 State IL .  Jones was so dynamic with the rock in his hands all night.  He sliced and diced the O’Fallon defense up over and over again whenever he wanted.  Usually they were for flying scoop shots that he made look effortless.  Also
