The highest-ranked newcomer in the 2023 rankings, Anderson has been excellent for the Wahawks, averaging 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting over 56% from the floor. He’s a capable 3-point shooter but is at his best when he’s using his quick first step and explosive athleticism to attack the rim for finishes or to get to the free-throw line.
Isaiah Naylor Isaiah Naylor 6'0" | SG Roland-Story | 2023 State IA | SG | Roland-Story (49)
A 6-0 off-ball guard with a smooth stroke from 3, Naylor has already buried 31 3-pointers on the year at a 40.3% clip. He has great range and a clean, smooth release off the catch. He’s used his shooting to open up the rest of his game, getting to the rim for finishes. He has also contributed at a high level on the defensive end, averaging 2.5 steals a game.
Andrew Mauro Andrew Mauro 6'1" | SG Dowling Catholic | 2023 State IA | SG | Dowling Catholic (61)
Mauro had a strong showing at the Top 250 Expo in September and has turned into Dowling’s leading scorer this season, averaging 16.9 points a game for the Maroons. A physical 6-1/6-2 guard who likes to play downhill and use his big frame to finish through contact, he’s also a capable 3-point shooting threat. As he continues to tighten up his handle and become a more confident perimeter shooter, he could turn into one of the better all-around offensive guards in the CIML.
Cole Ritchie Cole Ritchie 6'2" | SG Sioux City East | 2023 State IA | SG | Sioux City East (82)
A 6-2 off-ball guard with some length, Ritchie has found ways to contribute across the board for the Black Raiders, leading the team in rebounding (6.9 a game) and averaging 12.0 points and 2.4 assists. He’s capable of posting up smaller defenders, stretching the floor with his shooting, or taking bigger defenders off the dribble and getting to the rim.
Drew Britson Drew Britson 6'1" | SG Garner-Hayfield-Ventura | 2023 State IA | PG | Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (97)
Britson is another player who first got on our radar when he impressed at the Prep Hoops Top 250 in September, and he has put together a really strong start to his junior year for the Cardinals, averaging 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.6 steals a game. He’s a heady lead guard who can get others involved, get to the rim where he finishes through contact and is a really good perimeter shooting threat.
Josh Sanderson Josh Sanderson 5'10" | PG Grand View Christian | 2023 State IA | PG | Grand View Christian (100)
Sanderson played sparingly as a sophomore for the Thunder, but has stepped into a huge ball-handling role this year for 1A’s top team, dishing out 7.1 assists a game and posting a nearly 5-1 assist-to-turnover ratio. He’s also shown himself to be a solid perimeter shooter (42.4% from 3). He’s a true pass-first guard that looks to get others involved and does a great job protecting the rock.
Jaime Grossoehme Jaime Grossoehme 6'1" | SG Webster City | 2023 State IA | SG | Webster City (108)
A 6-1 off-ball guard, Grossoehme has established himself as one of the best shooters in the state this year, knocking down 39 3-pointers so far at a 56.5% clip. He averages 3.5 made 3-pointers a game, and while most of his offensive production does come from the arc, he’s also started to use that shooting to open up the rest of his game.
Ben Marsh Ben Marsh 6'1" | SG Adair Casey-Guthrie Center | 2023 State IA | SG | ACGC (110)
Marsh has been strong as a junior, stepping into a bigger scoring role and seeing his production increase from 8.0 as a sophomore to 16.3 this season. He gets to the free-throw line 6 times a game and has improved his ability to attack the rim for finishes, which has helped his efficiency numbers. The 6-0 guard is also strong on the glass, averaging over 6 rebounds a night for the Chargers.
Jaekwon Bradley Jaekwon Bradley 6'1" | SG Roosevelt | 2023 State IA | SG | Roosevelt (116)
Bradley is a 6-1 guard who thrives on playing downhill and getting to the rim for finishes, shooting an efficient 53.3% from the floor and averaging a team-high 14.5 points a game. He gets to the free-throw line a ton, averaging over 8 free-throw attempts a game. The next step in his development will be improving his shooting, both from the charity stripe and adding some range to his game.
Daviyon Gaston Daviyon Gaston 6'1" | SG Western Dubuque | 2023 State IA | SG | Western Dubuque (117)
An athletic, slashing guard who is able to break down the defense and get to the rim for finishes, Gaston has been a pleasant surprise as a junior for the Bobcats, averaging 12.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.9 steals a game. He gets to the free-throw line at a solid clip and is able to contribute across the board with his athleticism and quickness.
