The upcoming week could be used as a springboard for players to build upon for the rest of the season, especially in the 2023 class. Here are the 2023 prospects set for a big week.
Richard Machado Richard Machado 6'1" | CG Saddle River Day | 2023 State NJ , 6’1 CG Saddle River Day
The Rebels are 4-0 on the season and are looking to continue their undefeated streak with Machado running the offense. The 6’1 combo guard has a smooth release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Machado is more than just a shooter as he has a nice floater and can get by his defender off the bounce. He is an underrated passer and moves well without the ball in his hands. Machado’s ability to knock down jumpers is something that will help him in a big way this week.
Asan Jones Asan Jones 6'3" | CG Eagle Academy | 2023 State NJ , 6’3 CG Eagle Academy
Jones is set for a big week as Eagle Academy has three games set for the week. The 6’3 guard makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and knows how to get his teammates involved in the half court. Jones has a nice handle, which he uses to get by his defender and finish around the basket. He is a good rebounder and can defend both guard spots. Jones is a two-way wing prospect who is in store for some big games this week.
Ted Gregoire Ted Gregoire 6'6" | PF Hudson Catholic | 2023 State NJ , 6’6 PF Roselle Park
Gregoire has been a force for the Panthers so far this season and should continue to do so this week. The 6’6 forward has a strong frame, which he uses to get position down low and has a nice touch around the basket. Gregoire is a good passer as he is able to run the offense out of either the post or on the perimeter. He is tough to box out on both ends of the floor and is an underrated post defender. Gregoire is a point forward prospect who should continue to fill up the box score this week.
Brandon Dean Brandon Dean 5'10" | PG South Plainfield | 2024 NLG , 5’10 PG South Plainfield
Dean is fresh off a 36-point game against Pingry and should continue to put up big numbers this week. The 5’10 guard has a good shooting stroke and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Dean can also score in the mid-range and is a crafty finisher around the basket. He is an underrated passer and has a knack for drawing contact as he has three games with at least eight made free throws. Dean is a scoring lead guard who should continue to light up the scoreboard this week.
Jayden Lopez Jayden Lopez 5'10" | PG Atlantic Tech | 2023 State NJ , 5’10 PG Atlantic Tech
Lopez has gotten into a groove as he is averaging a little under 20 points per game over his last five contests. The 5’10 guard shoots the ball with confidence from deep and has a nice shooting form. Lopez is more than just a shooter as he has a good handle and can finish around the basket. He moves his feet on the defensive end and rarely makes poor decisions with the ball in his hands. Lopez is looking to continue his hot shooting this week as the Red Hawks look to go 3-0.
