We still managed to catch several quality contests and below is a quick review of six prospects we saw in-person or via online streams who impressed us with their high-level of play.
Luke Boyd Luke Boyd CG Archbishop Ryan | 2022 State PA – 6’1” / Junior / Archbishop Ryan / Team Final Black / Combo Guard: After posting an outstanding fall, Boyd continues to prove that he can score at all three levels. He scored 26 points vs. West Philly and then drained 4 threes on his way to 21 points in win over Central Dauphin. Against Central Dauphin he also grabbed 6 rebounds and had 6 blocks. Boyd’s quickness, athleticism and vertical leap catch opponents by surprise.
Ty Burton Ty Burton 5'10" | PG Moravian Prep | 2024 State NC – 6’1” / Sophomore / Lampeter-Strasburg / Philly Pride National / Combo Guard: Burton is coming off a summer grassroots circuit during which he was nearly unstoppable. The opening weeks of the 2021-22 high school season have not been much different for him as Burton continues to score the rock at a ridiculous pace. Most recently he posted games of 27 points; 28 points (5 threes) and 14 points. Burton’s ability to shoot the three ball sets up his elite dribble drive scoring.
Justin Edwards Justin Edwards 6'6" | PF Imhotep Charter | 2023 State #3 Nation PA – 6’6” / Junior / Imhotep / Team Final EYBL / Combo Guard: Edwards continues to prove why he is the No. 1 ranked player in Pennsylvania’s Class of 2023. In a highly anticipated matchup with Neumann-Goretti, Edwards recorded 16 points, 14 rebounds and 5 steals in a win for ‘Tep. Edwards’ ability to play as a “big guard” is unlike any other prospect in the state.
Tristen Guillouette – 6’9′ / Sophomore / St. Joe’s Prep / NJ Scholars Elite / Power Forward: Early on this season one of the most polished big men in Pennsylvania’s Class of 2024 is averaging a double-double (12.5 pp. & 10 rpg.). Guillouette’s most recent efforts include 17 points and 9 rebounds against Engineering & Sciences as well as 10 points and 10 boards during limited minutes in a blowout win over Scranton Prep. The positioning skills and footwork Guillouette owns are extremely advanced for his age.
Nathan Lapp – 6’0” / Junior / Dock Mennonite / Perkasie Knights / Point Guard: Lapp is an extraordinary point guard who is a phenomenal rebounder for his size. In 2020-21 he averaged a near double-double. This past week he scored a career high 28 points in a win over the Church Farm School. He followed up that performance with 27 points in a victory over Jenkintown. If his scoring continues at this clip, Lapp’s recruiting stock will skyrocket.
Charlie Thornton Charlie Thornton 6'4" | SF Radnor | 2023 State PA – 6’4” / Junior / Radnor / SJ Hoops Elite Gray / Wing: Thornton’s skill set has taken enormous steps forward this season. He has shown significant improvement in his shooting stroke as well as his ability to score off one or two dribbles. He is now a legitimate offensive half-court threat for Radnor. Plus he still excels in transition. In the latest four game stretch for Radnor (7-0), Thornton recorded a 20-point game vs. Marple-Newtown; an 11-point effort vs. Holy Ghost Prep; a 10 & 10 (plus 5 assists) double-double against WC Henderson; and 15 points vs. Buena (NJ).
