Continue ReadingThe last week (or so) was full of entertaining games that featured extremely talented prospects. To be honest, it was an amazing opening week for the 2021-22 high season here in southeastern Pennsylvania.
Below is a quick review of prospects we saw in-person or via online streams who impressed us with their high level of play.
Hakeem Bradshaw – 5’11” / Junior / Martin Luther King / Combo Guard: This wiry backcourt possesses a smooth jump with deep range. Bradshaw also needs extraordinarily little space to put up a shot. That trifecta makes Bradshaw difficult to defend on the perimeter. He owns solid handles and can handle contact.
Sam Brown Sam Brown 6'3" | CG Lower Merion | 2023 State PA – 6’3” / Junior / Lower Merion / Philly Pride Gold / Shooting Guard: Brown’s reputation as a lethal three-point shooter proceeds him and his 6 threes (30 points total) against Pocono Mountain West provided further evidence of his shooting prowess. But it was his improved scoring off the dribble that leaped out at us. Brown scored in numerous creative ways off the bounce, displaying skills we were not aware were in his bag.
Dave Kearney – 6’5” / Senior / Haverford School / East Coast Power / Small Forward: The long and athletic forward with an extensive mid-range repertoire began the season with a 20-points / 16 rebounds double-double (posted 4 blocked shots as well). Kearney also excels at playing downhill in transition. In his first year as a starter for the Fords, Kearney is averaging 12 ppg. through four games.
Nick Monty – 6’4” / Junior / Radnor / East Coast Power / Small Forward: Monty excels at the plays legendary 76ers broadcaster Marc Zumoff termed “turning garbage into gold”. He scores via hard work on the offensive glass, fighting for loose balls and hustle plays. When given the opportunity, Monty has proven he can score off the bounce from 17 feet and in.
Joshua Parks Joshua Parks 6'0" | CG Delaware County Christian School | 2022 State PA – 6’0” / Senior / Delaware CCS / Hoops 4 Life / Point Guard: In 2020-21 Parks was a 1st Team All Bicentennial League selection and he is off to a quick start here this season. He is a primary ball handler who can score at all three levels. He proved that in a 29-point outburst during the semifinals of Delco Christian’s annual tip-off tournament. Parks led DCCS to the ‘chip and was named MVP of the tourney.
Masud Stewart Masud Stewart 6'0" | PG Neumann-Goretti | 2022 State PA – 6’0” / Senior / Neumann-Goretti / We R1 / Combo Guard: Stewart is blazing hot from deep to open the season. Specifically, he knocked down 6 threes — most of them from NBA range — in a win over Howard (DE). His 25 points was one of the smoothest efforts we have seen in some time. Not one of his deep 3PAs appeared forced or looked like he was chucking it up.
Darren Williams Darren Williams 6'4" | SG Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State PA – 6’4” / Sophomore / Archbishop Ryan / K-Low Elite / Combo Guard: Williams is a lefty backcourt prospect who can hit the three-ball from all over the floor. When Archbishop Ryan gets out in transition, Williams is quick to fill a lane where he can receive a pass on the fly and then finish with authority. Williams posted 16 points vs. a good Downingtown West squad. He is an excellent man-to-man defender too.
