Kamal Muhammad Kamal Muhammad 6'8" | PF South Kent ( SKS- Connecticut) | 2022 State WA , 6’9, Forward, Lakeside, C/O 2022
Kamal is emerging as one of the more vertical prospects in the state. At 6-foot-9, Muhammad can do just about anything you need of him on the court. He can initiate the offense from the forward spot, while also being an absolute handful when he gets to his post spots. He can turn over either shoulder and score over defenders on the low block on one play, and go for a coast-to-coast dunk on the next. He was getting double and triple-teamed all game on his way to 16 points on Friday night against a talented O’Dea roster.
Alex Yu Alex Yu 6'3" | CG Bellevue | 2023 State WA , 6’3, Forward, Bellevue, C/O 2023
Alex Yu Alex Yu 6'3" | CG Bellevue | 2023 State WA is a very reliable and underrated wing for an incredibly deep Bellevue team this season. He was a workhorse during the Wolverine’s big win on the road at Hazen on Saturday. Yu dropped 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals and showcased himself as a very capable two-way player. He isn’t flashy, but he gets his opportunities off great cuts and slashes to the basket. On the defensive end, he was a menace in Bellevue’s 2-3 zone from multiple spots throughout as they contained Hazen’s Jaxon Nap Jaxon Nap 6'5" | SF Hazen | 2022 State WA .
Mason Williams Mason Williams 6'4" | PG O'Dea | 2023 State WA , 6’4, SG, O’Dea, C/O 2023
For one of the top teams in the state, Mason Williams Mason Williams 6'4" | PG O'Dea | 2023 State WA brings O’Dea buckets in a variety of different ways. During Friday’s blowout win over Lakeside, Williams scored 19 points on 7-for-10 from the field. Using his thin and atheltic frame, Mason can float through the paint and finish with ease past defenders and finishes well off the glass. His jumper is very pure, and he can make it off the catch, and uses a nice one-dribble pull-up in the midrange when he has the space.
Jeffery Anyimah, 5’11, PG, Mountlake Terrace, C/O 2022
Jeffery Anyimah might be one of the more slept-on point guards in the area. He has a great calmness about him when he sets up the offense as a lead guard. During Wednesday’s season opener for the Hawks, he was definitely one of their leaders against Kamiak, tallying 20 points and 4 boards while going 7-of-8 at the line. He can use his lighting-quick burst both in the open court and in half court sets to get where he wants. In addition to his speed, he is a great playmaker with the ball in his hands and can create shots for himself as well.
Josiah Pierre, 6’4, Forward, Kamiak, C/O 2023
As a rangy and athletic forward, Josiah has a lot to offer as a prospect. The biggest thing that stood out to me during Kamiak’s 77-71 overtime loss to Mountlake Terrace on Wednesday was his length. He uses his long arms to his advantage while fighting for rebounds, and can be hard to stop when he drives into the paint and can finish in traffic.
Jaxon Nap Jaxon Nap 6'5" | SF Hazen | 2022 State WA , 6’7, Forward/Guard, Hazen, C/O 2022 (Montana Commit)
The Montana Griz commit brings a lot to the table for the Hazen Highlanders. Once Jaxon Nap Jaxon Nap 6'5" | SF Hazen | 2022 State WA gets going on offense, he can go on crazy scoring binges. Although Hazen got outplayed in a loss at home against Bellevue last week, Nap showed his ability as a true point-forward at 6’7 and 200 lbs. Nap recorded 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and had a stretch in the second quarter where he popped off three deep stepback 3-pointers. Nap’s left-handed stroke is tough to stop, and he can be an explosive player on fastbreaks, off the dribble and the post.
Brady Kageyama, 6’0, PG, Bellevue, C/O 2023
From the point guard slot, Brady fits right into what Bellevue does. He plays with a lot of pace and knows the right time to push the rock down the floor. He has a good looking jumper and is always ready to shoot. His 15 points with 3 triples on Saturday against Hazen were much needed and seemed to come at crucial points in the game.
Zaveon Jones, 6’2, Forward, Mountlake Terrace, C/O 2024
As a sophomore, you’d be impressed when you see Jones play. Zaveon has an extremely strong upper body and uses it to his advantage. During the Hawks opening night overtime barnburner win at Kamiak, Zaveon feasted in the low post with 13 points and 7 rebounds, fighting the opposing bigs for loose balls and boards. He can absorb contact, finishes well with his left hand, and draws a lot of fouls with his activity.
Vito Mkrtychyan, 6’1, Guard, Mountlake Terrace, C/O 2022
As a guard for Mountlake Terrace, Vito brings a high basketball IQ to the floor. He plays well off the ball and does a role players job to perfection. His shot selection was on point during the Hawks win over the Knights last week as he helped Mountlake Terrace to a 77-71 win over Kamiak and a 2-1 week overall. His 12 points came from running the floor and being in the right spot at the right time.
Tigran Mkrtychyan, 6’1, Guard, Mountlake Terrace, C/O 2022
Tigran is another very smart player for Mountlake Terrace. I did not get a major look at him due to some foul trouble on opening night, but he nailed a pair of free throws to help seal the win in overtime with his 6-point, 6-rebound performance. Much like his brother, Tigran is not afraid to do the dirty work on both ends of the floor. He fits well alongside the strong guard play the Hawks currently have.
