Using the same games previously mentioned, there were plenty of quality prospects on display that made their impact known. In today’s piece, you will see guys that can knock down shots but also straight up compete.
Darian Leslie (2022) Dunbar
Leslie has been impressing me since the Summer and continued with the trend against New Albany. The senior might be one of the better midrange shooters on this list and forces defenses to really lock down on his as he can hit the pullup shot or beat guys off the bounce. While his mechanics are a little different, Leslie finds a way to get shots to fall. One of the best shooting options in the DCL.
Sean McKitrick (2023) Carroll
McKitrick is Carroll’s primary scoring option and showed this against Miamisburg. Good size for a SG at 6-foot-3 and can handle the ball like a PG. He might be the best perimeter shooter on this list from high school range. McKitrick attempted some college range shots which was a red flag to me with his shot selection. Struggled to get much more of a rhythm due to the pressure Miamisburg put on him. Still a skilled guard with upside.
Sam Boardwine (2022) Miamisburg
Boardwine might be on the smaller side with these SGs, but his grit was on full display against Carroll. The lefty senior guard has great secondary speed and easily got past defenders throughout the game. Not the primary offensive guy for the Vikings, but tremendous setup guy that opens the floor up with his ability to slash and find the paint.
Josiah Gonzalez Josiah Gonzalez 6'2" | SG Youngstown Chaney | 2023 State OH (2023) Chaney
Gonzalez is probably the best athlete on this list and looked good against Reynoldsburg. Slashed from the tip and started to find his rhythm once he made his first few shots. Plays above the rim and can be a problem with matchups with his 6-foot-4 frame. Interesting prospect to watch as he continues to develop.
Isaiah Wilkins (2022) Reynoldsburg
Wilkins showed great patience and leadership for Reynoldsburg. Very smooth player. Showed he could knock down the midrange shot as well as finish consistently through contact. Complimented teammate Julian Heckman Julian Heckman 6'1" | PG Reynoldsburg | 2022 State OH in the backcourt and showed he can be a good scoring option.
