Dayvon Vaughns — Hinkley
Hinkley is a team that appears to be in rebuild mode and do not have a win on the season. They came extremely close in a heartbreaking loss to Lakewood on Saturday and in that game, Dayvon Vaughns had himself a career day. Vaughns put up 26 points in the game on an efficient 11-16 from the field. Vaughns is known for his intense defense and is also a force on the boards so for him to show that he can be looked at as a two-way option, only will help him get noticed a bit more as we plan to follow the senior. He’s a player to keep an eye on.
Under the Radar Standouts: Week 2 Under the Radar Standouts: Week 2 — Pueblo Central

Williams is up to 20 points a game and also is one of the top defenders in the league as well with 4.3 steals a game. Pueblo Central is a team that look like contenders and with the duo of Williams and Kadyn Betts Kadyn Betts 6'7" | PF Huntington Prep | 2023 #90 Nation CO , is a team that likely will run the table in that conference. Big season for the season captain.
Marcos Sanchez — Pueblo East
Pueblo east picked up their first win of the season and it was their Senior wing Marcos Sanchez that assured them of the win. Sanchez scored 19 points and was a force inside which helped them get in the win column. Sanchez was a force on the boards, did not shy from contact as he went 5-6 from the FT line, and also got out in transition and finished. Pueblo East is a team that has a balanced attack but did not get over the hump but finally got the monkey off of their back behind their senior standout. Let’s see if they can keep it rolling.
Under the Radar Standouts: Week 2 Under the Radar Standouts: Week 2 — Castle View
The Chaparral/ThunderRidge tournament is one of the top tournaments in the state as it forces some of the top teams/players to go at it each year and this was no different. The battle of Shay Rumsey Shay Rumsey 6'3" | SG Chatfield | 2023 State CO for Chatfield (18 points) and Klopfenstein was a fun one as they both were at the top of their games and kept it close throughout the entire match. It was the Sabercats who went out on top as Tyler both scored and finished with 9 rebounds as well. Tyler remained aggressive throughout the game as he got to the FT line 16 times. He converted on 11 of them and showed that he would not be a player that backs down. Castle View is a team that is coached well and plays hard and they deserved the win in Week 2.
Alante Monroe-Elazier —Vista Peak
Vista Peak is finally starting to find a groove and pulled off two straight wins. Their latest win was over Elizabeth and it was their underclassmen that stepped up and showed that he will be a player to watch for the next two seasons. Monroe-Elazier is an athletic 6’2 wing that can put the ball on the floor, finish at and above the rim, and also can go on scoring runs when he gets hot. In their win against Elizabeth, the sophomore touched every category as he finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. He’s a microwave scorer that is only going to get better and deserves some recognition as a player to keep an eye on this season and moving forward.
