We know people come for the stars, but coaches can leave with a steal that could be a fixture in their program. Below are 5 under the radar guys that played in a fun City of Palms Day 2.
Corey Washington
You’d think it would be hard to miss an explosive 6’7 forward playing with two 5 star commits, but it’s happening at North Little Rock. Washington plays hard, has the size to guard several positions, and finishes well in the paint. Whether it’s touch shots, like floaters or powering through contact, the unsigned senior can get you points in the half court. His athleticism shows up in several ways but brightest is as a floor runner and cutter.
Austin Montgomery
Montgomery adds athleticism in the Newman backcourt. He’s tough to stop when he gets downhill. The senior crashes the boards collecting 6 rebounds against an athletic Oak Hill group.
Jordan Marsh
Marsh had a positive impact on Oak Hill’s win. He made his 14 minutes count, going 6 for 6 from the field for 12 points. The quick 2023 guard also dished two assists. Oak Hill’s backcourt is crowded this year so expect him to have a bigger role next season.
Braylin Garcia
I will sing Garcia’s praises until he disappoints. He hasn’t to this point giving great effort since coming to the US. It’s hard to say someone who played for their national team is under the radar but he doesn’t draw the attention his teammates do. The 6’7 forward comfortably defends bigs and wings, has a high motor, and rebounds like a madman. The fiery 2023 prospect is coming around as a scorer averaging 20+ over the last month.
Elijah Johnson Elijah Johnson 6'7" | PF Choctaw | 2022 State FLThe Choctaw big is unbelievably light on his feet for someone his size. He’s built more like a lineman than a baller, but at 6’7 he can find a home In someone’s paint. Johnson has post moves, can finish above the rim, and has the strength needed to guard opposing bigs. The senior could be someone’s 2022 diamond in the rough.
