Tanner Jones 6’4″ Greenwood: The talented 2024 guard was one of the big standouts of the Willard Tournament as he averaged 26 points for the three games. It was an impressive coming out weekend for Jones as he has returned to live action after missing the entire summer season with a broken leg. His physical strength and overall skill level made him a very difficult matchup for any guard. He can wheel and deal with his creative handles and finish inside against any contact. He also has a smooth jumper and an overall nice feel for the game.
Tyler King 6’2″ Parkway West: A slender 2023 wing who broke out big during last week’s Gerald Linneman Parkway Tip-Off as he averaged 20 points in the Longhorns’ three games. I saw him at a late-summer tournament and he was very impressive and that has carried over into the beginning of the season. He is a tremendous slashing threat who attacks the basket hard and can finish with excellent accuracy. He is also a lightning bolt in the open court with his speed in the transition game.
Charles Nelson 5’11″ Miller Career Academy: The 2023 combo guard has been an impressive two-way player to start the season. If he isn’t getting buckets and dropping dimes on offense, he is hawking the ball and picking pockets on the defensive end. He’s currently averaging 23 points a game and he’s doing it on an assortment of penetrating drives, 3-point shots and transition buckets. He’s quick and he does a nice job of setting up his defenders. He also has good anticipation on the defensive end.
Walker Gohring Walker Gohring 6'0" | CG Fulton | 2023 State MO 5’11″ Fulton: The 2023 combo guard stepped up big in leading the Hornets to a runner-up finish in the Montgomery County Tournament. He averaged 18 points and hit a total of 10 3-pointers in the three games, which included a high of 27 points in the championship game against Mexico. He’s been a capable long range shooter since his freshman season, but he has also has more ball handling responsibilities and backcourt leadership.
Israel Randle Israel Randle 5'10" | PG North Kansas City | 2023 State MO 5’10″ Lincoln Prep: The 2023 point guard earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Republic Invitational after leading Lincoln Prep to a pair of victories. He’s a pass-first point guard with excellent speed and quickness who is capable of getting a bucket when his team needs one. He has a good sense of when he needs to go and hunt his own offense and he displayed a nice stroke from 3-point range. When it comes time to close a game, he was automatic at the free throw line, which is ideal from your point guard.
Langden Kitchen Langden Kitchen 6'6" | PF Westran | 2023 State MO 6’6 Westran: The 2023 widebody was dominant in leading Westran to the championship of the Glasgow Tournament. He manhandled folks all weekend as he averaged 23 points and 17 rebounds for the tournament. When he asserts himself inside, people start moving like furniture. The big fella is also handling the ball more and being more of a playmaker. He delivered some impressive passes in the championship game victory against NE Cairo.
