Cooper Davis Cooper Davis 6'5" | SG Olentangy Liberty | 2022 State OH , 6’4 SG Olentangy Liberty 2022: After struggling from long range to open the season, Davis had it all going with a 35-point performance against the fast-paced Trotwood-Madison Rams. Davis did a great job moving without the basketball and freeing himself for easy looks. Davis also showed off some athleticism with a poster dunk, the first time I’ve ever seen him dunk in traffic. Great bounce-back game for the future Toledo Rocket.
Cole Canter Cole Canter 6'3" | SG Newark Catholic | 2022 State OH , 6’3 SG Newark Catholic 2022: Canter plays like a quarterback on the basketball court, and it makes sense when you consider his talent on the gridiron. Canter surveys the court before making the decision on who to pass the ball to. Canter shoots a very easy basketball out of his hands and has a high percentage from 3-point range. This small school sleeper should be highly coveted for his talents in both football and basketball to play at the next level.
Gavin Headings Gavin Headings 6'8" | PF Pickerington Central | 2023 State OH , 6’8 PF Pickerington Central 2023: Headings has grown since I last saw him, as he’s not only taller but also longer. Headings has had a couple impressive dunks in both Pickerington Central games I’ve seen this season. Headings also shoots the ball at a pretty high level, with a high release point. Headings has gotten tougher as well since the summer and should be in for a rankings increase the next time those are updated on the website.
Antaune Allen Antaune Allen 6'2" | CG Dunbar | 2023 State OH , 6’2 SG Dayton Dunbar 2023: Allen was fearless in the game against a bigger and more talented Pickerington Central squad, doing what he could to keep his team in the game. Allen is an impressive athlete with a couple near poster dunks and two blocks that he soared to snatch. The key for Allen is always going to be lowering turnovers and shooting it better from the outside. I want to see continued growth in those aspects of his game, because the motor and athleticism are constants every time he steps on the court.
Julian Heckman Julian Heckman 6'1" | PG Reynoldsburg | 2022 State OH , 6’1 PG Reynoldsburg 2022: Heckman was on fire from downtown to lead his young Reynoldsburg to a key out of conference victory over Bishop Watterson. Heckman took advantage of the Watterson zone defense by getting a lot of 3-point attempts and cashing in on a high percentage of them. Heckman also made some plays in transition, either scoring or dishing to a teammate on the fast break.
