Amani Lyles Amani Lyles 6'7" | C Beechcroft | 2022 State OH , 6’7 C Beechcroft 2022: Lyles has had an interesting past year and a half in his recruitment and performance on the court. During the summer of 2020, Lyles was seen dominating open gyms set up by 270 Hoops and NEO Spotlight. Lyles then got a shortened high school season because of the Columbus City League waiting until January to start playing games. After a summer playing on the EYBL circuit with All Ohio Red, I’m surprised a couple Division I programs haven’t offered Lyles recently, his only current posted offer came in August of 2020 from Cleveland State. Lyles is putting up big time numbers for Beechcroft as a senior, I’d be surprised if low major programs don’t eventually take a bigger interest in February and March.
Joshua Whiteside Joshua Whiteside 6'7" | C Gahanna Lincoln | 2022 State OH , 6’7 C Gahanna 2022: Whiteside had a great summer for NOVA, playing alongside Gahanna teammate Javan Simmons Javan Simmons 6'7" | C Gahanna | 2022 State OH . Whiteside has a lot of skill on the block with both hands. Physical as well, there’s a lot to be intrigued by with Whiteside. Gahanna plays in a lot of marquee games this season, plenty of time for Division I and Division II coaches to take a look at Whiteside.
Derrick James Derrick James 5'9" | PG Canal Winchester | 2022 State OH , 5’9 PG Canal Winchester 2022: James is another member of that NOVA team that had a great spring and summer on the UA-Rise circuit. James has really improved his skill and confidence from his Sophomore and Junior seasons this summer. With such strong play, James received a couple offers from Division II programs already.
Mekhi Elmore Mekhi Elmore 6'1" | PG Thurgood Marshallchooligh | 2022 State OH , 5’11 PG Taft 2022: Elmore is one of the most athletic guards in the state and when he’s on, it’s amazing to watch Elmore cook. At the Prep Hoops 250 Expo, Elmore hit a 3-pointer, stole the ball and dunked it in transition and then nailed another 3-pointer from the volleyball line the next possession. In just 30 seconds, you saw the whole package that Elmore brings. A talented scoring first point guard with explosive athleticism.
Jonathan Effertz Jonathan Effertz 6'0" | PG St. Ignatius | 2022 State OH , 6’0 PG Saint Ignatius 2022: Effertz is a more traditional point guard, a guy who can get you into your offense and is a knockdown standstill shooter. Effertz had a solid spring for C2K Elite and then played with Wildcats Select during the July live period where he got an offer from UC-Davis.
