Carter Coombs Carter Coombs 5'11" | CG Great Bend | 2024 State KS , 5’11 Guard, Great Bend, 2024: the young guard who made a statement as a freshman last year at Chanute will have a tremendous early test in his new home going against the Free State guard Trio. Coombs electric scoring ability, moxie, and toughness will be put to task early, and will be exciting to see the young talented guard go up against some older talented veterans Thursday night. One of the leading freshman scorers in Kansas last year, expect some big numbers this year.
Jordan Brown Jordan Brown 6'2" | SG St Francis | 2022 State GA , 6’3 Guard, Free State, 2022: The new perimeter weapon for Free State will be making his official debut Thursday night. The premier shooter and scorer of the basketball will look to add some more scoring punch to an already loaded Free State roster. The Hays City shootout will be a good starting point for Brown and Free State.
Mozae Downing-Rivers Mozae Downing-Rivers 6'3" | PG Free State | 2022 State KS 6’4 PG and Cooper Jackson Cooper Jackson 6'0" | PG Free State | 2022 State KS 6’ PG, Free State, 2022: One of the best back court tandems in Kansas will be back on the floor Thursday night as well. Both are great creators off the dribble for themselves and their teammates, get paint touches off the bounce, and are top tier floor generals. Their matchup with the young Coombs of Great Bend will be one to watch.
Jaylen Turner, 5’11 Guard, Holton, 2022: Another transfer making his debut for a new school, Turner will be looking to help make an impact for Holton who will need some new guys to step up in big time roles with the graduation of Kale Purcell. Turner is healthy, can make plays with the ball in his hands, and is someone who could thrive and play well in the Big 7 league.
Asa Barnes Asa Barnes 6'2" | SG Southeast | 2023 State KS , 6’2 Point Guard, Wichita Southeast, 2023: A point guard who controls tempo, can play with pace, gets paint touches, and is crafty with the ball. Was a contributor on the varsity level last season and will be intriguing to see how his impact expands after having a solid grassroots season.
