Boden Kapke Boden Kapke 6'11" | C Holy Family | 2023 State #153 Nation MN of Holy Family. The size is there, the skills are certainly there both with back to the basket and facing the cup, plus Kapke has become both stronger and more agile. He has the feel for the game and the level of skill that I think will make for a fantastic Big Ten big man. To me Boden is at least a top 150 big, if not higher.
Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN of DeLaSalle. Whitlock will move up spots as I think his feel for the ball screen game is at a very high level. He’s going to be one of the toughest players to keep in front in Minnesota high school basketball this year. I thought he did a really nice job moving the ball for the Islanders last year and he was a constant playmaker for Net Gain.
Max Shikenjanski Max Shikenjanski 6'2" | PG Stillwater | 2023 State #288 Nation MN of Stillwater. Much like Nasir, I see Max moving up some top ten spots because I love his feel. Max has a combination of skill and killer instinct as a scorer that you just don’t see from a lot of other top players. He’s been faced with a lot of challenges on the court and more times than not Max has outplayed top players he has faced earning his team wins.
Khalif Bettis Khalif Bettis 6'6" | SF Burnsville | 2023 State MN of Burnsville. Bettis back and Burnsville and they will take some lumps this year, but for me this wing is a stock riser as his perimeter skills have taken a big step forward but he’s still got that worker forward in him that rebounds and makes plays at the rim. Seeing that combo I think Bettis is a stock riser.
Joshua Ofori Joshua Ofori 6'7" | PF Prior Lake | 2023 State MN of Prior Lake. That old saying “the sky is the limit” applies here. Ofori has the physical assets that schools love: long, strong, agile, height for his position. The physical ability has been there and this fall this 6’6 wing has really asserted himself as a prospect. Big steps forward. If he takes another step forward, his stock will jump even higher as he’s a nice looking prospect.
Owen Carlson Owen Carlson 6'3" | SG Mahtomedi | 2023 State MN of Mahtomedi. Carlson had a nice junior season but seeing him last spring/summer, I was amazed that his skills combine with an explosive burst that I don’t feel he gets enough credit for. His first step, his lift into the jumper, his lift near the rim, all at a higher level than I originally thought. Has definitely moved into a full scholarship area as a talent.
Spencer Hall Spencer Hall 6'3" | SF Wayzata | 2023 State MN of Wayzata. Spencer could be looking at a big junior season. He moved into that second scorer role for Wayzata mixing a few individual scores with active off ball baskets. He’s a disciplined defender, a smart offensive player, and all around dependable. He’s kind of like a Wayzata version of Tyler Wahl although not quite as big and explosive, but that comparison is more about the all around game he plays for his team.
****This is the high level group, we have a couple more stock riser categories to get to before the rankings are released on Monday.
