Always ready to shoot on the catch, he utilizes the triple threat to quickly create space and get his shot up. While he didn’t run point against River Ridge, his high IQ was flashing as he often made the key pass in a possession, leading to multiple buckets. He has a good first step, a tight handle, and is great at changing pace on the dribble.
Annie Wright HS Sophomore Guard Hunter Carter – Fits the mold of the taller floor general. He has a confident handle and is constantly surveying the court. He’s a skilled passer that can get a little flashy with it, throwing a few one-handed passes against Auburn Adventist, and even sprinkling in a smooth behind-the-back pass. He has easy range from distance that, when combined with his passing skills, causes major headaches for defenses.
Steilacoom HS Sophomore Guard Jaydus Green – He can take defenders off the dribble or spot up way beyond the arc. Has a lethal spin move he loves to pull out when there is seemingly nowhere to go. It’s easy to see the potential in the 6’4 sophomore. He possesses an effortless stroke that is hard to teach. He already has good instincts and should grow a lot as a player this season.
Gig Harbor HS Junior Guard Will Landram – Dominated all aspects of their game against South Kitsap. Landram is a long, athletic guard that can pick a rebound out of the sky and push it up the court in seconds. He consistently found himself interrupting passing lanes, blocking shots, and locking down ball handlers on the perimeter and in the paint. At 6’5 he looks like a natural ball handler, and when he is hitting from three point there is almost no stopping him.
Gig Harbor HS Senior Guard Asher Raquiza – While his teammate, Landram, is tall and lanky, Raquiza plays more like a bowling ball. He is an attacking, physical presence on both sides of the ball, creating turnovers and relentlessly pursuing the rim. He won’t miss an open look, and just as he’s starting to knock down the outside shot, he’ll blow by you for an easy two. He’s most fun to watch in transition as he goes with a full head of steam at every opportunity.
Bellarmine Prep HS Senior Forward Luke Shillito – It’s not often you get to say a forward has an elegant game, but Shillito has it. He has impeccable footwork and a soft touch that makes turnarounds and pullups nearly indefensible. His skillsets work perfectly together, and his long arms only amplify his smooth jumper. He loves to work around the paint, knocking down numerous shots from free throw line to the blocks, but he can also step outside and knock down the long-range shot. He helped propel Bellarmine over Lincoln last week, in a game where he looked poised and controlled throughout.
