Player Evaluations
Kobi Bowles Kobi Bowles 6'2" | PG Lawrence North | 2024 State IN (Lawrence North) – 6’0″ 2024 PG: Bowles is a smooth, young guard who does many different things well for this young Lawrence North team. He sees the floor well and always is looking to make plays. This does lead to several mistakes from being over-aggressive, but those are mistakes you can live with as a coach. Around the rim, Bowles has very good touch and some nice moves to get the ball to the rim.
Kanon Catchings Kanon Catchings 6'8" | PF Overtime Elite (GA) | 2024 #31 Nation GA (Brownsburg) – 6’6″ 2024 SF: Catchings is a big wing who uses his length to make plays all over the court. He made an impact the second he came into the game, and he led Brownsburg to their 1 point victory. He has a nice shooting stroke and can score it from all areas on the floor. He also used his length to disrupt Plainfield on the defensive end of the floor with two nice blocks. Kanon also threw down a nice fastbreak dunk. Watch out for this kid in the future.
Davion Doty Davion Doty 6'5" | PF Hammond Central | 2024 IN (Hammond Central) – 6’5″ 2024 PF: Doty is a big player inside who dominated the glass on both ends of the floor for the Wolves. It seemed like every time a shot went up, Doty was there fighting for the board. He also used his length to get some buckets on the offensive end of the floor, but he did struggle from the outside. I havan’t seen him before, so I do not know how he usually shoots from deep, but he was 0-3 in this one. I’d like to see him work on his footwork, but all in all, I was impressed by Doty.
Lebron Gough Lebron Gough 6'1" | PG Cathedral | 2025 State IN (Indianapolis Cathedral) – 6’1″ 2025 PG: Gough is a young point guard who provided great minutes to Cathedral with Comer in foul trouble. He played great on-ball defense despite being undersized. He also hit a nice layup inside to show off his touch. Gough made some freshman mistakes, but he also showed several bright spots that make you wonder what his future may hold.
Azavier Robinson Azavier Robinson 6'1" | PG Lawrence North | 2025 State #88 Nation IN (Lawrence North) – 6’1″ 2025 SG: Robinson may have had the best performance of any player all day. The guard started off the game with a triple on the first possession, and he ended by knocking down several free throws to put the game away. In all, Robinson would finish with 22 points and 12 boards to lead LN. He is a scrappy player who isn’t afraid to mix it up with the bigger guys on the inside, and he also will not hesitate to drive in amongst the trees. It was a great showing by the freshman who could be key to North’s success this season.
Ron Rutland III Ron Rutland III 6'1" | SG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN (Indianapolis Attucks) – 6’2″ 2024 SG: Rutland is a smaller, quick guard who moves the ball well. He is never going to hesitate to shoot the three as he showed with 11 attempts in this one. He did struggle from the outside, but this didn’t stop him from continuing to shoot. If he can improve on his consistency, he has the potential for very big numbers in his career at Attucks.
Braden Walters Braden Walters 6'6" | PF Terre Haute North | 2024 State IN (Linton-Stockton) – 6’5″ 2024 SF: Walters was pretty quiet in the scoring column in this one until he knocked down 6 free throws in a row in the final minute to seal the win for the Miners. He is a bigger wing who plays more on-ball, but he sees the floor well and found the open man consistently. He also attacked the glass on both ends of the floor. In all, Walters would finish with 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists in a great showing from the young guard.
Andrew Wiggins (Heritage Christian) – 6’4″ 2023 PF: Wiggins is a big body inside who showed off several nice post moves and some good touch around the rim to help Heritage Christian against a smaller Lawrence North team. Wiggins would finish with 16 points and 8 boards as he was dominant on the glass on both ends. Wiggins does need to work on his free throws as he was just 2-7 in this one, but this was about the only area he struggled in on Saturday.
