Player Evaluations
Jake Davis Jake Davis 6'6" | SF Cathedral | 2023 State IN (Indianapolis Cathedral) – 6’5″ 2023 PF: Davis is a very thick big man, who can shoot it well from the outside and get inside and battle with the bigs. When he catches for an open catch-and-shoot three, you can just put the points on the board. He also moves his feet well on the defensive end against even smaller guards. He can do a little bit of everything, and he should be a solid NAIA player in two years.
Jordan Green Jordan Green 6'4" | PF Fort Wayne North Side | 2023 State IN (Fort Wayne North) – 6’5″ 2023 SF: Green is an athletic wing who can jump out of the building. He is an athletic finisher and seems to glide around the rim. He also attacks the glass on both ends of the floor with authority. Green would finish with 14 points and 7 boards in this one. He did most of his damage in the paint, so I would like to see him take some more jumpers, but it was a good showing nonetheless.
Joey Hart Joey Hart 6'5" | SG Linton-Stockton | 2023 State #214 Nation IN (Linton-Stockton) – 6’5″ 2023 SF: Hart was easily one of the best players all day on Saturday. He shot lights out from the floor, 4-4 from behind the arc, and totalled 22 points in the win for the Miners. His confidence is absolutely off-the-charts, and he thinks he can hit absolutely every shot on the court. He showed off a nice post-up and move to the bucket which was good to see. He is a very talented player who has a lot to showcase over the next two years for sure.
Brauntae Johnson Brauntae Johnson 6'2" | PG Fort Wayne North Side | 2024 IN (Fort Wayne North) – 6’4″ 2024 SF: Johnson may have been the best athlete out of everyone on Saturday, and he showcased it with a nice performance. He is smooth with the ball in his hands, and he can rise up over anyone for his go-to pull-up jumper. He can also jump out of the gym which led to his 9 boards. He can be way too aggressive and eager sometimes which leads to turnovers, but he can pretty much do it all on the basketball court.
D.J. Moss D.J. Moss 6'4" | SF Gary 21st Century | 2023 State IN (Gary 21st) – 6’5″ 2023 SF: Moss had one of the best games that I have ever seen from him. He ended the game with 23 points on 8-9 shooting from the floor and 4-5 from three. He can go strong to the hole, but he is best on the catch and shoot threes that he kept hitting all game. He is a confident scorer which leads to him sometimes trying to do too much, but that did not happen on Saturday. He was the main reason that Gary 21st exploded for a 50 point second half and a 20 point victory.
Christian Nunn Christian Nunn 6'3" | SF L'anse Creuse North | 2022 State IN (Indianapolis Attucks) – 6’4″ 2022 SF: Nunn is a powerful wing who can get downhill and score at the rim. He likes to shoot from the outside, but his jump shot is not the most consistent. In fact, he gets almost all of his offense off of the drive or offensive rebounds. Nunn would finish with 17 points and 10 boards in the loss, but he needs to be much more efficient if Attucks is going to find success this season.
Eric Price Jr. Eric Price Jr. 6'9" | C Gary 21st Century | 2022 State IN (Gary 21st Century) – 6’10″ 2022 PF: Price had a big game for Gary 21st in the paint on Saturday. He is so big that he really can’t be moved, so the quick guards were able to find him all game for easy buckets inside. He would finish with 13 points on 6-6 from inside the arc. He attempted two threes, but he definitely should not have taken them. Price should be a big D3 big next season.
Peter Suder Peter Suder 6'5" | SG Carmel | 2022 State #227 Nation IN (Carmel) – 6’5″ 2022 SF: Suder is a nice wing who played on ball for Carmel throughout the entirety of this game. He has a nice mid-range jumper, and when he can get to his spots, he knocks them down. However, he isn’t quite quick enough or able to create his own shots, so he struggled against the physical D from Homestead. He would lead Carmel with 13 points, but I would love to see him played more off-ball which would really showcase his talent.
