James is a score-first point guard who has a solid skillset in every facet of the game offensively. His offensive consistency allowed him to string together consecutive double-digit point games throughout the week, which is impressive for a freshman playing at the varsity level. His jumper is solid, and he shows an ability to be accurate as a stationary shooter. He can also create off the bounce and is crafty around the basket, allowing him to generate offense outside of set plays. When the opportunity presents itself, he’s a willing passer, can set up others when initiating the offense, and excels in finding the open guy after collapsing defenses.
Cade Morris 6’0 SG Bayside 2023
Morris is a strong two-guard and an efficient scorer from the wing who excels as an inside-outside scorer. His mature frame and upper body strength allow him to finish through contact when slashing to the rim. Morris also knows how to maneuver in the post when being defended by smaller opponents and create easy opportunities for himself. As a shooter, he’s sufficient off the catch and off the dribble. He’s always square to the basket, gets substantial elevation, and has a nice-quick release that won’t be bothered by close-outs.
Enjoyed playing UMS-Wright in tough environment Friday night. 🏀 Looking forward to playing with @Bayside_Hoops in Admirals’ Classic tomorrow through Wednesday. #4 ⚓️ @HoopSeenAL @PrepHoopsAL @ahsaaradio @IconsRegion #AnchorDown #GoBayside pic.twitter.com/asLaXNlgnv

Jaylen Carrington 6’0 SG Hoover 2023
Carrington is a solid shot creator with excellent speed and ability to create space at a high level. As a combo guard, he’s decisive and does a good job of finding gaps in the defense when driving. Carrington is aggressive with his touches throughout the game and keeps the defense on their heels. He displayed an ability to convert unorthodox finishes at the rim and throw off shot-blockers timing throughout the week. Carrington can shoot the ball effectively enough to set up his drives and is solid at making plays for others off penetration making him a solid secondary ball handler.
Preston Busbee 6’0 SG Huntsville 2023
Busbee is a knockdown shooter from deep who can shoot with range. He did an excellent job of flowing within the offense and creating high percentage shots in the half court with timely cuts and relocation to space. This off-ball movement is pivotal in the Huntsville offense. His consistent contributions make him a great scoring option and an ideal complimentary guard to more ball-dominant guards.
Jordan Smith 5’10 PG Tuscaloosa County 2022
Smith is a pure slasher at the point guard position. His knack for finishing at and around the rim creates constant pressure for the defense to rotate and be active to prevent paint touches. Smith is a quick guard who plays with a north and south style and can get downhill quickly. His floater extends his rim attack, as he’s able to work them in between games whenever bigs step up to stop his penetration. He does an excellent job of slicing up zone defenses and finding spots to attack where he can finish at the basket or kick it to the open man.
