Joel Bryan, 6’2 G, Hiawatha, 2022: In what could be one of the opening night performances of the year, Bryan went off for Hiawatha in their dramatic win over Marysville. Bryan scored 27 points in the contest and drilled a double pump contested 3 point shot while down 2 at the buzzer sending the gym into a frenzy. Bryan will continue to play a huge role for a much improved Hiawatha team this year.
Michael Kates Michael Kates 5'9" | PG Maize South | 2024 State KS , 5’9 PG, Maize South, 2024 (Pictured): Came out with a bang like expected for his Maize South Debut scoring 11 first half points and knocking down 3 threes during that time frame. Finished with 15 points for the game and helped lead his Maize South squad to a nice win. Kates showing off the perimeter shooting ability is a sign that he is going to take off this year as his play making ability and point guard skills are already elite.
Isaiah Atwater Isaiah Atwater 5'8" | PG Maize South | 2023 State KS , 5’10 PG, Maize South, 2023: Scoring the first 5 points of the game for South, Atwater came out with a bang as well. A great pairing in the back court with Kates, Atwater showed off the scoring ability in the pull up game and getting tough shots off. Had a couple of really nice assists as well off the drive and kick and back court plays. Got into double digits as well, expect more of the same this year.
Asa Barnes Asa Barnes 6'2" | SG Southeast | 2023 State KS , 6’2 G, Southeast, 2023: Barnes scored 14 points last night and almost helped lead a massive flurry in the fourth quarter, that saw a comeback fall just short. Barnes is a great combo guard prospect and his aggressiveness allows him to make a ton of plays with the ball, and open up opportunities for others
Michael Bailey Jr, Guard, Wichita North, 2023: Paced his North squad with 12 points in a low scoring affair that saw his team come out with a win over Newton. Bailey is a good shooter of the ball and averaged a couple made 3s per game last season. When he can catch on drive and kicks, get loose in transition, and get space on the floor he is tough to close out and contest on.
