It was a 16-team tournament and I partially viewed 10 of the 16 the teams for at least one half:
Desert Edge, Estrella Foothills, Flagstaff, Highland Prep, Paradise Honors, Phoenix Christian, Prescott, Maricopa, Sabino and Trivum Prep.
Here were some of the some of the underclassmen that stood out:
2024’s
Kallai Patton Kallai Patton 6'5" | SF Rancho Christian | 2024 State CA-S Maricopa
A fluid handle athletic wing can handle it well and get out on the break. He has some shift to his handle to break his man down. He has a quicker shooting release and he runs the break like a track kid. He is also a good passer with his left or right hand like his brother. He has a high feel with good ball skills and real speed to get by defenders.
Aiden Dunne Aiden Dunne 6'2" | PG Liberty | 2024 State AZ Paradise Honors
Another bench player who got decent minutes on varsity showed what he will bring to the game next year. He is a high IQ PG with a good handle and he is highly skilled. He can hit the catch-3, he has a floater game and makes good decisions/reads. He is shooting the ball at a high percentage early on this season and has good size.
Tommy Randolph Tommy Randolph 6'2" | PG Pinnacle | 2024 State AZ Phoenix Christian
A thick combo guard can handle it and has good speed in the open court. He can change speeds and directions quickly. He has a nice layup package and he will defend on the ball with good lateral quickness. He advance passes and will throw the extra pass. He gets downhill easily with his strong build and he can shoot it from the perimeter.
Presley Ibeh Presley Ibeh 6'5" | SF Highland Prep | 2024 State AZ Highland Prep
A long and athletic wing has a decent handle and makes good passes. He can drive the lane and score it on floaters and contested layups. His speed and longer strides allows him to get to the rim quickly and finish off tough layups. He made some surprisingly good passes and he defends multiple positions with his length and bounce.
Tyler Hutton Tyler Hutton 6'5" | SF Cactus | 2024 State AZ Highland Prep
A long and lean wing forward can shoot it a little and moves without the ball. He uses his length to rebound and plays the game with a high IQ. He cuts to the basket, gets second chance points and makes good passes.
Kohen Hill Kohen Hill 5'10" | PG Highland Prep | 2024 State AZ Highland Prep
A small but highly skilled shooter who plays the game with confidence. He can get passed his defender and finish off layups with either hand or shoot it from the arc. He surveys the court to make a play and the coaches son has a good head on his shoulders.
2025’s
Zane Gaul Zane Gaul 6'10" | C Prescott | 2025 State AZ Prescott (Pictured)
A rare true five-man runs the floor well from end to end. He rebounds at a good clip with two hands and keeps the ball high. He can catch the ball in the post and score with little hook shots and layups. He should make a bigger leap up and be asked to score a little more when the do-it-all senior of the team Jason Parent Jason Parent 6'4" | SF Prescott | 2022 State AZ graduates.
Adam Hubbard Adam Hubbard 6'4" | CG Canyon View | 2025 State AZ Paradise Honors
A long freshman played some spot minutes and showed off his upside. He has a nice perimeter stroke and comes with good length for his class.
Uriah Tenette Uriah Tenette 5'10" | PG Prescott | 2025 State AZ Prescott
An undersized pure PG with a ball on a string type of handle. He make many extra passes and always seems to make the correct read. He is an old school guard who can hesitate or burst to get by defender. The lefty can can shoot it a little from the 3pt line and made some clutch FT’s down the stretch to ice the game in OT.
