Drew Steffe Drew Steffe 6'6" | PG Frisco Memorial | 2023 State #122 Nation TX | G | Team Griffin EYBL | Frisco Memorial HS
In a game featuring top 10 stars. Steffe came to play, going 15-15 from the charity stripe en route to 32 points against the #1 team in the state that features the #1 player in the state in the Class of 2022. Steffe scored in a variety of ways. Pull up jumpers going left or right, deep contested threes, and as I’ve said he went 15-15 from the line. Steffe put his full game on display. He made big play after big play throughout the game for Frisco Memorial. I was impressed with his aggressiveness off the bounce. Regardless of the size of his opponent, whether it was a little guard or even the #1 player in the Class of 2022 Steffe was aggressive. Every time I watch Steffe I see more and more of his game unfold. This is going to be a big season for Steffe. He may be my pick for MVP.
RJ Chatman | PG| BBSS National | Sachse
Chatman had one of those games this week. His team in need of a big win Chatman put the pedal to the metal. Scoring in a variety of ways. Chatman came out the gate swinging and swinging big. Pull Up jumpers off the bounce, in transition, and off hand-offs. Chatman did everything he could against a tough Little Elm team to try and give the Mustangs the win. As the defense of Little Elm shifted Chatman relied on his deep range three-ball to provide more cushion. He was knocking down three-pointer after three-pointer. Pull up three-pointers on the break, left to right crossover three-pointers and three-pointers off the ball screen. As they began to trap off the screens, Chatman began attacking the rim converting on multiple AND 1 opportunities which gave him a game-high 31 points.
Luke Cheatham | PG | BBSS National | Hallsville HS
Cheatham has been lighting it up since the start of the season. Going into his junior campaign you can tell he is a man of a mission. In a tournament in Decatur Cheatham was on FIRE!! Knocking down three-pointer after three-pointer. Cheatham finished one of his many impressive games over the weekend with 6 three-pointers all barely touching the rim many from 35-40 feet. Cheatham displayed his ability to also lock in on defense, playing the passing lanes to perfection. One steal by Cheatham in the crucial moments of the game as Cheatham dived out of bounds for the loose ball, he found a teammate who was then immediately covered. As the defense swarmed his teammate, he kicked it back onto Cheatham for the corner three that kept his team ahead. Cheatham’s impact was all over the game.
Tre Johnson Tre Johnson 6'5" | SG Link Academy | 2024 #4 Nation MO | G | Team Griffin | Lake Highlands HS
Johnson who by many standards is the best player in his class. Put on another supreme performance. Younger than most players he competes against Johnson’s game is many times above the rest. His ability to be silky smooth yet also powerful and aggressive. Johnson can put the basketball in the basket any way that you want it. He attacked the basket, got to the line, and knocked down pivotal jumpers en route to 39 big points for the Wildcats. The way he can generate points in bunches is a testament to his hard work. The shots he takes and makes, show how he puts the work in.
Joseph Rowe | PG | TX Elite | San Angelo Central HS
Rowe is one of those players that coaches dream about. He does everything the coaches asks and more. In the Doug McCutchen Tournament Rowe helped propel his team Tournament by his stellar play on both ends of the floor. Rowe showed off his ability to be able to shoot the three-ball not only with confidence but also with consistency. Rowe knocked down multiple three-pointers to at times increase the lead for the bobcats or keep them in striking distance to do what they do best, Grind it out. On a team full of players who all play the game with high-level grit and prestige. Rowe shined!
