Game 1: Albany 76, Skyline (Oakland) 66.
Jonathan Chapple Jonathan Chapple 6'0" | PG Oakland | 2024 State CA-N 6’1 Guard 2024
Chapple was the teams leading scorer with 23 pts. He’s a good handling guard using his speed and toughness to regularly get himself into the paint for buckets, where he absorbed the contact and completed the play. He broke loose for 13pts in the 2nd qtr. He knocked down a couple 3ptrs. He maintained his steady play throughout the game with good passing and defense.
Game 2: Alameda 61, Cal 54.
Nick Rondenet 6’5 Forward 2022
It was our first look at Rondenet. He’s a solid body player who usually starts but came off the bench in this game to lead his team in scoring with 21pts. He was a key part of the victory knocking down three 3-Ptrs from the top and wings. He worked well inside getting rebounds, and taking it up strong on put backs, plus using good foot work to score on his own.
Game 3: Oakland Tech 61, Sacred Heart Cathedral 51.
Mahlik Smith 6’0 Guard, 2023
Smith continues his consistent play in the early season. The strong body combo guard plays at a good pace. He seems to do his scoring within the flow of the game, whether it’s transition or in the half-court. He had the catch and shoot 3-ptr going in from the corner, a couple floaters in the paint. He’s a willing passer, and plays good on ball defense and will help on the boards. He scored 21pts. Five 3-Ptrs.
Game 4: Miramonte 68, Deer Valley 51.
James Frye James Frye 6'5" | SF Miramonte | 2022 State CA-N 6’5 Guard 2022
Frye has committed to Claremont McKenna College. He’s a proven player at this level while he hones his skills for the next. He’s a big guard who handles and pushes the ball in the open court. He passes, and sees the court well, and has good drives, and finishes with his long arms at the rim. 23pts.
Game 5: St. Francis 63, Moreau Catholic 56.
Vince Barringer Vince Barringer 6'7" | PF St. Francis | 2022 State CA-N 6’6 Guard 2022.
The unsigned Barringer could very well be one of the top 3-Point shooters in NorCal. He does other things, he’s an unselfish passer, and will help on the boards. His biggest attribution will be knocking down 3-Pointers for this team. He spots up well in the corners, he’ll use a screen with a good release. He got off to a hot start knocking down three 3-Pts in the first quarter, and finished with 4 for the game. He led his team in scoring with 14pts.
