Joren Mirabal Joren Mirabal 6'2" | SG Magdalena | 2022 State NM – 6’2 Shooting Guard “Magdalena” Class of 2022
Magdalena star Joren Mirabal Joren Mirabal 6'2" | SG Magdalena | 2022 State NM is currently the leading scorer in New Mexico averaging 29.0 points per game this season. Through six games this season, his elite scoring has led Magdalena to an undefeated 6-0 record so far. Joren has an all around game passing the ball, rebounding the ball and playing the passing lanes defensively, but his scoring is what stands out the most. He is shooting an incredible 56% from the field and leads New Mexico in three pointers made shooting 50% from long range. This season he has three games where he has made at least six three pointers in a game. He is also great at getting to the free throw line and ranks 6th in New Mexico in free throws made at 25. This season already, he has had three 30 point games and had his season high of 37 points vs St Johns on November 23rd. He has increased his scoring from last season where he averaged 28.4 points per game as a junior last year and up to 29.0 this year as a senior.
Derek Sanchez– 6’1 Shooting Guard “Pojoaque Valley” Class of 2023
Shooting Guard Derek Sanchez is currently the second leading scorer per game in New Mexico this season. He is averaging 26.4 points per game through 5 games played and has been one of the states more consistent players so far this year. In four of his 5 games, he has scored 20 or more points and has had two 30 point games. His season high was in his season opener vs Gallup on November 30th, where he scored 38 points. He is also 7th in New Mexico in total points scored this season at 132 points through 5 games this year.
William Benjamin Jr.– 6’1 Guard “Las Cruces” Class of 2022
Las Cruces State Champion William Benjamin Jr. is currently the 3rd leading scorer in New Mexico at 24.4 points per game. William can score at every level on the floor and is coming off averaging 27.1 points per game last season during his junior year. This season William is shooting a solid 50% from the field, and a solid 36% from three. He has made 16 three pointers through 8 games and is 3rd in threes made in New Mexico. He is also great at drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line where he shoots a solid 87% from the line this season. He has made 53 free throws this season which leads New Mexico and he is 26 ahead on the next person on the list. His season high was 34 points vs Albuquerque Academy on December 11th. This season he has had five 20 point games and three 30 point games that has helped Las Cruces get to an undefeated 8-0 record so far this year.
Jose Murillo Jose Murillo 6'8" | C Highland | 2022 State NM – 6’9 Center “Highland” Class of 2022
Highland Center Jose Murillo Jose Murillo 6'8" | C Highland | 2022 State NM is averaging 23.0 points per game this season and that currently ranks 4th in New Mexico at this point. He is a unstoppable force inside the paint offensively and defensively. He is a double double machine every night and has had 4 double doubles in 5 games this year and is averaging 11.8 rebounds per game. He is shooting the lights out at 77% field goal percentage and has a nice touch around the paint. He will catch his share of alley oop dunks every game and is a force getting offensive rebounds and putting them back up for dunks. He has scored at least 20 points or more in four of his 5 games this season and had a season high of 28 points vs Chaparral on December 10th.
Judah Casaus Judah Casaus 6'0" | SG Del Norte | 2023 State NM – 6’1 Shooting Guard “Del Norte” Class of 2023
Despite missing the last three games, State Champion Judah Casaus Judah Casaus 6'0" | SG Del Norte | 2023 State NM still ranks in the top 5 in scoring this season in New Mexico. Through the three games he’s played, he is averaging 22.7 points per game and 3-0 when he’s in the lineup. He has increased his points per game from last season at 13.6 to 22.7 per game this year. He is shooting a solid 53% from the field and 40% from three which have both increased from last season. He is an all around player that does everything for the Del Norte Knights but has established himself as one of the best and underrated scorers in New Mexico. He is super athletic and is good at getting to the basket and finishing around the rim. He is good at drawing fouls and has increased his free throw attempts being more aggressive this season. He has remained as one of the games best mid range shooters and that has helped open up his long range shooting this season.
