There were teams from the DMV as well as PA, WV, OH, AZ, NY and NJ in attendance.
Here’s a look at part two of the 2022 standouts from teams in the DMV.
Tyrell Ward Tyrell Ward 6'7" | SF DeMatha | 2022 State #56 Nation MD | 6’6” WF | DeMatha
The Xavier commit is going to be who makes the Stags go all year, and in their first day win against Westfield he was the best player on the court. At 6’6” Ward is able to do everything on the court as he can handle and initiate offense, he’s improved as a shot maker and can finish above the rim and he brings it on the defensive end and on the glass as well. He finished the game with 23 points and 7 rebounds leading his team to the win.
Rodney Rice Rodney Rice 6'4" | CG DeMatha | 2022 State #89 Nation MD | 6’3” CG | DeMatha
Another senior DeMatha will lean heavily on, the Virginia Tech commit didn’t have his best weekend shooting the basketball but he still found ways to make plays and set the tone on both ends of the floor. He’s smooth off the bounce and able to get to spots, he has good feel and is an improved playmaker and he has a knack for hitting timely shots. He finished the event averaging 11.5 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in their two games.
Christian May Christian May 6'6" | SF Bishop O'Connell | 2022 State VA | 6’4” WF | Bishop O’Connell
Despite O’Connell losing in their only game of the weekend to a talented Huntington Prep team, May was out of this world as the Towson commit showed he’s going to have a huge senior season in the WCAC. He did a little bit of everything making tough shots from multiple levels, rebounding well on both ends and making all of the hustle and winning plays for his team on both ends. He finished with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds while also pitching in three steals.
Ronnie Davis | 6’4” WG | Rock Creek Christian
In one of the more bizarre performances of the event, Davis made relatively no impact in the first half of their win over Coolidge, then ended as the high scorer on the team without many even realizing it. He didn’t record a shot in the first half, then finished with 24 points and 14 rebounds in the second half to help them take the game over. The 6’4” guard is a high motor wing with a good skill set and the ability to impact the game in a number of different ways.
Jeremiah Little-John | 6’4” WF | Rock Creek Christian
While Davis was the guy in the second half, it was all Little-John in the first half as you saw him do what he does usually as he made tough shots and brought it on the defensive end too. He’s a long and agile wing who can create space and make shots from deep, he uses his length to get deflections and block shots and he can handle the rock too. He finished with 15 points, 4 blocks, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Ty Williams Ty Williams 6'1" | PG Rock Creek Christian | 2022 State MD | 6’1” PG | Rock Creek Christian
Williams is the straw that stirs the drink for Rock Creek, as the 6’1” guard is the leader and the point of attack for them. He’s a smooth guard who is shifty and changes speeds and directions well, he is able to touch the paint with ease and he can score it off the bounce from multiple levels too. He finished with 14 points. 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in their win.
