Tim Fredrickson – 2022 – G – DeForest
Fredrickson stepped up big for the Norskies on Monday. Right off the bat, the senior guard was a difference-maker, hitting a 3-pointer, taking a charge, and dishing out an assist on the first few possessions of the game. Fredrickson finished with a team-high 19 points. He also grabbed eight rebounds and dropped three assists. Fredrickson is pretty crafty. He’s got a great shot fake that gets defenders off the ground and understands how to utilize change of pace/direction when he attacks the bucket.
Josh Jansen – 2022 – F – DeForest
Jansen put on a passing clinic on Monday. The 6-foot-5 senior dished out six assists against Monroe. He was extremely dangerous whenever the ball was in his hands, whether it was pushing the ball in transition or catching in the high-post. Jansen also scored eight points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Type of guy that’s going to play a long time and dominate the local YMCA leagues when he’s 40, Jansen is flashy and skilled without leaving the ground much and has a terrific feel for the game.
JT Seagreaves – 2022 – F – Monroe
Seagreaves scored a game-high 25 points. There are probably some Division 2 programs out there writing nasty letters to Wisconsin for scooping him up on the recruiting trail as a football prospect, because he could definitely thrive at that level. The 6-foot-6 forward has really blossomed into a three-level scorer. He’s been so efficient this season as a 3-point shooter, facing up and slashing or shooting over the top in the mid-range, or posting up on the block and getting coast-to-coast with the basketball in transition. A real blue collar player that brings his hard hat and lunch pail to work each night, Seagreaves also does the little things — rebounding, protecting the rim, winning loose balls, etc.
Charlie Wiegel – 2023 – W – Monroe
Wiegel hot late to give the Cheesemakers an outside chance at stealing a road win. The junior wing hit a few timely shots as Monroe was rallying in the waning minutes. DeForest really keyed in on Monroe’s top two scorers, as most teams will do. Wiegel definitely took some of the pressure off with his outside shooting.
Max Weisbrod Max Weisbrod 6'1" | CG Deforest | 2022 State WI – 2022 – G – DeForest
Weisbrod flirted with a triple-double, dropping 18 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. The Northern Michigan commit didn’t even take a shot for about the first 10 minutes, but still hand his fingerprints and control on the game. One of the highest-IQ players in the state, Weisbrod plays mistake-free basketball, dictates the flow of the game, and exclusively takes high percentage shots. He had his 18 points on just nine shots. Defensively, Weisbrod stifled one of Monroe’s top weapons and came up with four steals. Weisbrod has always picked his spots real well and when it’s time to take over, he’ll put his foot down on the gas pedal, blowing the game open for DeForest with a series of triples.
