Amani Hansberry Amani Hansberry 6'7" | C Mount St. Joseph | 2023 State #52 Nation MD | 6’7 | Mount St. Joseph
Just like in the 2022 stock risers article, our No. 1 player makes an appearance. For Hansberry, his production for his new school in Mount St. Joe has been absolutely stellar. The 6-foot-7 forward is a bully inside who can now showcase his perimeter skills within the half court offense freely. He’s shown ability to knock down three’s, make high-level passes off the bounce and be a dominant presence on the glass.
Isaiah Coleman Isaiah Coleman 6'5" | SF Word of God | 2023 State #59 Nation NC | 6’5 | National Christian
Coleman has continued to stuff the scoring column with crooked numbers as a three-level threat. The 6-foot-5 National Christian standout can be featured as a guard or wing with his size and athleticism. Coleman has been an instant highlight in the open floor with his rim-rocking finishes and a handful for defenders in isolation scenarios. Coleman received a boost in the last rankings update and if he keeps this level of production, he could make a strong push for a spot in the top three.
Carlton Carrington Carlton Carrington 6'4" | CG St. Frances | 2023 State #84 Nation MD | 6’4 | St. Frances
Carrington has carried over his production and momentum created this summer with Team Melo to the court with nationally ranking St. Frances. Carrington isn’t a guy who will ‘wow’ you with supreme craft or athleticism, but what he does do is make sound, fundamental plays that translate well to the college level. The 6-foot-4 guard has become a three-level scorer and one the defense has to be aware of at all times on the catch beyond the arc. He continues to trend upward overall as a defender with improved toughness and comfortability within his frame.
Rieco Hellams Rieco Hellams 5'7" | PG Good Counsel | 2023 State MD | 5’9 | Good Counsel
I caught Hellams in Good Counsel’s season opener against John Carroll in which he helped lead to a strong win on the road. The 5-foot-9 floor general caught my eye in the summer with Team Melo thanks to his relentless defense on the ball. He’s a competitor who is more than willing the pressure his man the full length of the court and every possession a challenge. Offensively, he showed growth with his jumper off the bounce and was especially effective in high ball screen scenarios. Hellams can get into the paint at will and when he does, he’s usually consistent in making the right read whether it be a scoring opportunity for himself or a teammate.
Austin Abrams Austin Abrams 6'3" | SG Mount St. Joseph | 2023 State MD | 6’2 | Mount St. Joseph
Abrams has been spectacular this season in the games that I have seen him. He has by far the prettiest form on a jumper in the Baltimore Metro area and his efficiency has gone through the roof this season. I think it’s simply him becoming more confident in himself and the game beginning to slow down for him as a junior. His footwork doesn’t get rushed even in instances where he has to quickly get a shot off in transition or coming off of a pin down. He knows when to pick and choose his spots and is always a threat to rattle off multiple triples. Abrams has also made evident improvements to his body, which helps physically as a defender guard bigger guards and sometimes wings.
Sean Clark Sean Clark 6'1" | CG Mount St. Joseph | 2023 State MD | 6’1 | Mount St. Joseph
Clark is climbing up my charts as he’s bought into the exact role his team needs. A 6-foot-1 guard with plus athleticism, Clark has played both in the starting lineup or been featured off the bench. No matter the case, he’s been locked in and if he can stay this way, will be a crucial piece to the puzzle for the Gaels. Guarding the opposing team’s best perimeter player, knocking down open three’s within the flow of the offense and taking advantage of his explosion in the open floor have all been contributing to his success and will start to give college programs a true feel for how he would fit into their rotation.
Antonio Avery Antonio Avery 6'6" | PF Good Counsel | 2023 MD | 6’5 | Good Counsel
Avery blew the doors off in the game against John Carroll as the high scorer with 23 points. The way he was scoring from inside and out gave the Patriots plenty of issues and when he wasn’t using the physicality that made him into a high major football prospect to score inside, he was showing soft touch on his jumper from three especially from the corners. He was extremely active on the glass and showcased a good motor by running the floor consistently.
