Continue ReadingStill early in the 2021-22 basketball season in the grand state of Idaho, many teams are beginning to hit their stride and solidify their in-game rotations. As a result, games are beginning to look more polished and the majority of teams have found some sort of cohesion to truly sync together on the court. Teams are beginning to rack up a couple of conference games here and there as they finish up their non-conference schedule heading into winter break. Once school is back in session, the heat will definitely be turned up as the majority of teams will begin their conference schedules and will begin the quest for a district title and a run at the state tournament. Coeur d’Alene vs. Sandpoint: Up north, Coeur d’Alene was able to snag a non-conference win over Sandpoint using a balanced attack and a really strong run in the third quarter. Coeur d’Alene was led by a hot shooting night from Steven Burgess Steven Burgess 5'11" | PG Coeur d'Alene | 2023 State ID who poured in 14 points, including 2 big three’s in the third quarter to open the flood gates from outside. Rounding out double-digit scorers, Cameren Cope Cameren Cope 6'4" | PF Coeur d'Alene | 2022 State ID had 11 points and was a big source of defensive energy and presence during Coeur d’Alene’s big run. On the other side of the ball, Sandpoint struggled to score at times, but Parker Childs was able to notch double-digits with 10 points while getting to the rim throughout the night. Arie VanDenBerg Arie VanDenBerg 6'2" | SG Sandpoint | 2023 State ID also added 6 points and will look to get his feet under him during the next contest.
Timberlake vs. Wallace: Timberlake came away with a rather large non-conference victory over Wallace recently and showed that they can be a really strong defensive team when they all work together. Timberlake was led by a 19-point performance from Zach Yetter Zach Yetter 5'9" | PG Timberlake | 2022 State ID who was able to score at all three levels throughout the game. Timberlake also got a lot of help from Hunter Higgins scoring 18 points and also getting some great assists from Tanner Menti. Wallace had a tough shooting night, but they still received a solid individual performance from Brad Tesky who scored 8 points by getting to the rim and finishing in the lane.
