Continue ReadingAs the basketball season officially begins in the great state of Idaho, many teams will be playing their first games within the next couple of days with lots of exciting early season matchups and out-of-state games. Many teams look strong out of the gate but only time will tell if these teams are in it for the long run, or if they will find themselves running out of fuel midway through the season. Either way, basketball season is upon us and it is time to take a look at some of the best games recently. Continue reading for a microupdate of recent games in Idaho.
Lake City vs. Mt. Spokane (WA): Lake City was able to start their season on a high note despite missing a couple of key players and being sluggish on defense at times. Kolton Mitchell Kolton Mitchell 6'1" | PG Lake City | 2023 State ID led the way for the Lake City Timberwolves thanks to a 38-point performance which tied a school record. He was 5-for-5 from the three point line and played with a lot of poise while also being able to score at will via a lot of trips to the free throw line. Blake Buchanan Blake Buchanan 6'10" | PF Lake City | 2023 State #172 Nation ID added 12 points and 8 rebounds, while Nathan Hocking contributed 12 points and 5 rebounds throughout the game.
Timberlake vs. Lakeside: Staying up north, Timberlake was able to capture a 10 point victory over Lakeside in a battle that spanned a couple of classifications and districts. Timberlake was led by a solid performance from Zach Yetter Zach Yetter 5'9" | PG Timberlake | 2022 State ID who led all scorers on the night with 17 points on a variety of shot types and difficulties. Following his lead, Hunter Higgins added 9 points for Timberlake along with a solid defensive performance and a great showing of late game tactical understanding. On the other side of the ball, Brutis SiJohn led Lakeside with 12 points on a tough shooting night while Vander Brown Vander Brown 5'10" | PG Lakeside | 2023 State ID added 10 points to round out double-digit scoring.
