Milan Momcilovic Milan Momcilovic 6'8" | SF Pewaukee | 2023 State #44 Nation WI (6’8 2023 F, Pewaukee)- Playing for the number one team in the state, Milan showcased some ridiculous efficiency on the offensive end. He’s such a smart player with great shot selection, and that showed as he put up 22 points on just nine field goal attempts. Against West Allis Central he showed he can hit from three, post up and turn over his shoulder for an easy two points, and now he’s even blowing by defenders and throwing down dunks off the drive. Even if he’s not the quickest player, defensively he has the work ethic and understanding of positioning to keep his man in front, and he does a nice job of boxing out to pull in rebounds.
Kollen Osterman (6′ 2022 G, Pewaukee)- It’s not every day that a shooter as good as Kollen is coming off the bench for a team, but that’s how good Pewaukee is. In the win over West Allis Central on Thursday, Kollen came in firing from deep, and finished 6-7 from beyond the arc as he put up 20 points. Pewaukee does a great job at swinging the ball, and Kollen was moving without it to get himself into space and open up opportunities to get an open look. He may not put up numbers like this often, but he’s a player that has to be accounted for at all times because of his ability to hurt you from beyond the arc.
Jamarion Batemon (6′ 2025 G, Milwaukee Academy of Science)- Batemon seems to be establishing himself as one of the top shooters in the 2025 class early. In a Monday night win for MAS, the freshman sniper put up 17 points while shooting an impressive 5-8 from beyond the arc. He has a quick release and no shortage of confidence, meaning when he gets a sliver of space he’s going to get off a shot. Even as a freshman his confidence isn’t waivered by a contesting hand, as he remains calm under pressure to shoot at a high percentage even with a defender closing out on him.
Najashi Tolefree Najashi Tolefree 6'6" | SF West Allis Central | 2022 State WI (6’5 2022 SF, West Allis Central)- West Allis Central wasn’t able to take down #1 ranked Pewaukee, but Najashi had a really strong individual performance. At 6’5 he’s a super versatile player, and was a force around the rim all game long. Whether he was posting up opposing wings, attacking off the bounce, or going coast to coast in transition, Najashi has a nose for the rim and knows how to get high percentage looks inside. He also showcased his passing ability, including an impressive pass from the top of the key that he zipped inside to a teammate for an easy lay-up. The Northern Michigan commit looks on track for a big time senior year.
Amari McCottry Amari McCottry 6'5" | SF St. Thomas More | 2024 State #304 Nation WI (6’5 2024 W, St. Thomas More)- In what I had expected to be a close game, Amari and St. Thomas More ended up blowing out conference rivals Dominican on the road. Amari took over in the second half, showing why he’s one of the top sophomores in the state. At 6’5 he has a rare ability to create off the dribble, as he seemingly can get to the rim whenever he wants to. He has some shiftiness but can also play with some physicality and over power defenders at times as he gets to the cup. Also showed some mid-range game as he created space for some pull-up jumpers. Also a solid passer, he threw a couple of accurate lob passes that resulted in highlight dunks for one of his teammates. On the defensive end he was getting after it, applying heavy ball pressure while also sliding over to take a charge.
Alex Lagerman Alex Lagerman 6'8" | PF Whitefish Bay Dominican | 2022 WI (6’8 2022 PF, Dominican)- Liked some of the versatility that Alex brings to the floor. He’s an intelligent frontcourt player who can do a bit of everything. Defensively he’s mobile enough to switch out and guard on the perimeter when needed, and in the paint he’s a strong interior presence who stands his ground on the block and can get off the floor to block shots. Offensively he showed some nice passing vision, particularly from around the top of the key as a high-low passer. When scoring he showed he can hit the outside shot when given too much space, and he can power through contact around the rim. Finished with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists against St. Thomas More.
Evan Oleson (5’11 2024 PG, St. Thomas More)- St. Thomas More has a nice blend of length, athleticism, and skill all around. I think the main question mark heading into the year was who would handle the ball for them. If Evan continues to play like he did on Tuesday than that question is solved. The sophomore guard put up an impressive 19 point, 4 rebound, and 4 assist game that served as a breakout performance. He showed he can be the steady hand at the point who can handle the ball under pressure and get his team into its offense. Without the ball he was actively moving to put himself in spots to get clean looks, as he went on to shoot 3-5 from beyond the arc. Really efficient player who can help this team exceed expectations this year.
