The game was a star studded match-up that also included two of the best coaches around, and what took place in-between the lines did not disappoint. In the end the Eagles squad was too much to handle, winning the contest 84-75, but that does not mean there isn’t plenty of things to discuss.
West Fargo Packers
Coming into this game as the only undefeated team in the East, the Packers knew how important it would be to defend home court. Although things didn’t go as planned the reigning state champions showed a lot of heart and didn’t back down. Despite adding their first loss, the West Fargo Packers are still second in offensive scoring, first in three point percentage, fourth in field goal percentage, and second in steals. In their game against Davies one of those held true as the Pack shot 42% from behind the arc. Some of the players that impressed for West Fargo were Brett Limke Brett Limke 6'1" | PG West Fargo | 2022 State ND with 15 and Nick Carlson Nick Carlson 6'4" | SF West Fargo | 2022 State ND who had 16. Another player that impressed me was guard Parker Nelson Parker Nelson 5'11" | SG West Fargo | 2022 State ND , a guy that was able to penetrate into the paint multiple times and play sticky on-ball defense. Overall this Packers team is going to have a great year, and this one game can most definitely be used as a lesson for them moving forward.
Fargo Davies
As the second ranked EDC team coming into their game against the Packers, Davies had a statement to make. As a squad who ranks first in offensive scoring, first in scoring defense, first in field goal percentage, first in steals, and fourth in rebound margin, this group is truly special. Some guys that showed out against West Fargo include Ian Motschenbacher Ian Motschenbacher 6'1" | PG Fargo Davies | 2022 State ND who had 21, Mason Klabo Mason Klabo 6'2" | PG Fargo Davies | 2025 State #240 Nation ND who gave 22 along with 4 steals, and Carsen Barta with 14. Other players I would like to mention who contributed include Raymond Brown Raymond Brown 5'11" | PG Fargo Davies | 2023 State ND and Daniel Yorke Daniel Yorke 6'1" | SG Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND , two guys that are skilled on both the offensive and defensive end. Overall, my thoughts on the Eagles is that they are the best and most exciting team to watch in the East. The confidence and swagger that they play with, along with their ability to play hard on the defensive end, will serve them well come playoff time.
As a hoops fan and a guy that played in the EDC, this match-up of the two best teams in the area was a fun one to watch. Top players clashing it out as great coaches try to out chess each other. I truly wouldn’t be surprised if this was the match-up we get to see in the EDC championship, and I don’t think that fans would be disappointed by that either.
