Continue ReadingAs the snow begins to fall and temperatures drop significantly across the great state of Idaho, basketball season has officially begun and is underway in the brightest of fashions. Across the state, high level competition can be found in any and every high school gym on any given night. This year, teams are looking strong out of the gates and I have high hopes for lots of great games being played throughout the duration of the entire season. As competition ramps up and teams get closer to playing in their own divisions and leagues, watch for high quality basketball in every corner of the state. Continue reading for a look at some of the microupdates from the state of Idaho recently.
Deary v. Genesee: Genesee was able to steal a non-conference victory over Deary in one of the first overtime games of the season. Genesee was led by an outstanding 27 point performance by Cameron Meyer who showed flashes of playing at a really high level throughout the contest. Meyer scored in a variety of ways and was able to rally his team when they needed it most. In addition, Meyer scored all 5 of his team’s points in overtime which allowed them to secure the victory. On the opposing side, Gus Rickert did a great job of scoring in crunch time and keeping Deary within striking distance over the course of the game.
Lapwai v. Logos-Moscow: Lapwai put on another dazzling performance in their win over Logos-Moscow. Lapwai put up a lot of points using their uptempo offense which was led by 31 points from Kase Wynott Kase Wynott 6'6" | SF Lapwai | 2024 State ID . In addition, Titus Yearout Titus Yearout 6'3" | PG Lapwai | 2022 State ID put up 20 points while also dishing out a handful of assists and wreaking havoc and causing turnovers on the defensive end. Terrell Ellenwood-Jones rounded out the double-digit scoring for Lapwai with 10 points. On the other side of the ball, Logos-Moscow was led by 26 points from Will Casebolt who scored from all over the floor and did a great job of handling the pressure that Lapwai applied. Aiden Elmore was the only other player with double-digits as he contributed 13 points.
